  1. Best way to remove fox shit. 20240308_160245.mp4
  2. Smaller scale forestry is the devil's own work. Dispite the fantastic videos showing how effective the machine is, the output never justifies the machine. By the sound of it for the money you are spending on the Iron Horse, you would be better off getting a Logbullet. With a Doosan 6 tonne digger with grab or tree shear , Logbullet , and tractor & forwarder, i can just about cover the felling & extraction costs with volumes over 100 tonnes of smaller trees.
  3. THIS ADVERT HAS EXPIRED!

    • FOR SALE
    • USED

6 years old, with 1200 hours on the clock. Sharts on the button, and everything works, but it will need a new infeed chute at some point in the near future.

    £5,000

    pembroke - GB

  4. This set up seems to work well
  5. I like the fact that the ground crew whilst filming couldn't watch at certain points.
  6. @Malus ere ya go, loverley logs. I suspect that the top one will be rippled
  7. Yes you are overthinking this, but it means that you are not being blaise about the risks. Getting the tree hung up means that you won't get a shower of dead wood being pinged back at you when a felled tree falls through the canopy. Make sure your escape roots are clear and crack on. Once you have delt with a few, you will get a feel for it. Or get a 6-8 tonne digger in.
  8. I am out there on Monday, and i will take a couple of pictures .
  9. If it was fire damage , i would expect to see alot more damage to the base of the tree to correspond with the levels of damage higher up. I don't think squirrels like horse chestnut, so i would be heading for some form of canker, or kids
  10. £100 per m3
  11. If you fancy a road trip out west, i have a couple of Beech stems that are 10' long and about 24" top diameter.
  12. Smooth rigging
  13. I have 4 sets of the Stihl pro comms for about 18 months. Despite a very wet winter they are still working fine The noise reduction means you can talk next to a running chipper and be heard by all. The only thing that lets them down is the stupid visor mount.
  14. Ahh the porting pimp plying his evil wares.🥰
  15. Yes indeed. Brilliant for my forestry needs.
  16. This is both morphs of KD
  17. Thats less than i pay my experienced ground workers. @AA Teccie (Paul) that doesn't put our industry in a very good light.
  18. Its been a while, but you lucky people can have the pleasure of another gripping video from the Hairy Fool. You might have to pause it half way through, because it might be just too exciting............... Enjoy #Dullasditchwater
  19. Whether you are a felling God or not, we all pick up bad habits, and it Is good to be reminded of said bad habits. I wouldn't employ someone who didn't want to do the refresher. One refresher every 5 years costs you pence a day.
  20. Learn to say no. As a subbie you will be brought in to deal with dangerous/ difficult trees that they don't want to do. Always ask questions, you will be amazed at what gems you pick up from the most unexpected sources . Don't take on debt unless you are very sure.
  21. But it doesn't get away from the fact, it was piss poor lunge
  22. A+ for ambition D- for execution
  23. @David Humphries A tiny bit of geotropism
