  1. It's rated at 30 tonnes . If you want to treat yourself to a Christmas present, have a look at the Bontrager jacks in Oregon Borntrager Tree Jacks – Serving the logging and timber industry WWW.BORNTRAGERTREEJACKS.COM Serving the logging and timber industry
  2. Have you come across Calum Duffy, he has loads of different jacks, it would be worth chatting to him. And no doubt @Spruce Pirate has had a little experience with them.
  3. It's a shame you are the wrong end of the country, otherwise you could borrow it and see how it compares.
  4. Thank for that, thats a bit of bold forward thinking from FISA
  5. What you are paying for is a certified jack designed specifically for tree felling. If it goes wrong you will still be covered by your insurance. The only tree i haven't jacked over the wood of the tree failed not the jack.
  6. I have a gravity feed system , that runs two radiators, one upstairs . I didn't install it, but it has two 28mm pipes out the back of the stove, and 28mm all the way to the header tank in the loft. The return reduces to 19mm about two thirds of the way to the top. Both radiators T off these pipes. I am not sure if this makes sense as i don't know what I am talking about . Some terrible pictures below.
  7. Jack came from Chris Forestry Hydraulic Wedge or Prying Arm Armstrong 30 t WWW.CHRISFORESTRY.CO.UK The hydraulic wedge or prying arm allows the felling of big trees (from 45 cm diameter at chest height) without a lot of... yep have always put the jack seat in first , it has always always made sense to support the tree first before putting in the mouth.
  8. This is the problem , you will never be able to condense That kind of knowledge in 2 days. You have no doubt had A few 'iffy'' moments, and wont repeat . The course is aimed at providing baseline information for you to build on: safe working loads, chain shot, etc. Particularly relevant given the spate of tipped over Rota due to lack of understanding Of safe working loads.
  9. This is the closest to a national recognised qualification. As far as i know, it still hasn't been ratified by Fisa. Give us a tinkle if you want any advice 07966792798
  10. What the spec on that beast of a splitter?
  11. He has been starring at a fearsome moth for 20 minute, i reckon I am good for another 20 before he gets bored.
  12. So today's antics Dinosaur thrown down the stairs, dog fetches said dinosaur jumps on bed, and runs back down the stairs to drop the dinosaur down the narrow gap behind the sofa. Spend 10 minutes trying to dig out the dinosaur, run back upstairs and jump on me till i retrieve the dinosaur . Repeat many times.
  13. That would be perfect if i had the space, i shall have to resort to the tried and tested, lob the dinosaur toy down the stairs
  14. Get to know other sub contractors with suitable machinery that you can call in as required. Sell yourself shamelessly all and sundry, eventually you will bump into the right person with work. Luck, you will need a bit of luck.
  15. I am going to take a chair down the beech, and his ball wanger in a bit. That will get rid of some of his energy.
  16. That lasted about 1/2 an hour, and ended up just giving him the peanut butter container . He's eaten about half the cong, so its unusable. He's raided the fruit bowl, and the kitchen smells of cider from the bits of of apple everywhere. Its food time soon, so he is just staring at me.
  17. You can get 4 bunks of 3m on a lorry, but it has to accurately cut otherwise it won't fit. 2.5m is good for bendy wood, but you won't get more than 20 tonne on a load. 3m seems to be the most popular here in west Wales.
