  1. Has anyone got experience of retro fitting a Scanreco radio control to a timber trailer. I have done this to my Botex 560 crane changing the old manual spoolblock to a proportional one coupled to a Rc 400 remote. But having a few issues Anyone done this successfully?
  2. Its a valtra t190 2006 so not so modern. Rated at 91ltrs min at 2100 rpm with max pressure 190bar at 1500 rpm when it was new. The pto pump set up pulled 210bar at about 900 rpm on my old tractor so running on new tractor system it will be down abit for those big lifts. I do like the extra crane speed and engine at tickover but I don't think the pump will last.
  3. Was running Botex 560 crane with pto pump running on 540. Now changed tractor now with only 1000 pto. Even at engine idle (370 rpm on pto )crane moves fast and pump/gearbox is noisy. Gearbox ratio is 3:1 so that pump is now spinning fast. Spoke to Wilsons who said run pto at 450rpm. Thinking this set up is going to overheat the pump especially with summer approaching. Does anyone know of a pto gearbox supplier at 1:1 ratio or is happily running a botex off the tractor hydraulics. TIA
  4. Would you dilute the tung oil with white spirit and at what ratio.thanks
  5. Can anyone recommend a UK available product for sealing the butt face of felled oak to reduce/stop checking. Any proven home made or commercial.
  6. Felling an Oak parcel at present. Many good straight stems but some too small for milling so considering cutting as blanks for cleft rails. Anyone done/doing this. What dias and lengths. Anyone want to buy any or knows of fencers who would. Location Horsham West Sussex. Cheers

    poplars

Yes splitting on impact to ground was my concern. If the only market is chip for these babies ,then they can stay stood in the ground. I'll probably have to split them to suit chipping anyway. Looking for a market for large poplar...!

    poplars

I'm looking for opinions on felling some large poplars. Should I top off all the way up to reduce collision fractures when I fell, or fell tree whole. I've felled many poplars in the past as whole trees and so far have never had any issues with trunks splitting but these are the largest I've encountered. There are 40 at an average DBH of 3ft and feel I should take a bit more care. Looking for a market. Location surrey. Anyone interested ,anyone specialise in poplars thanks
  9. Oak firewood for sale in Surrey/Sussex. Felled Oct/Nov 2015. Will be roadside shortly.
  10. Alder firewood for sale near Petworth Sussex. Good staight poles cut to 3m lengths. Ideal processor size 4"to 17" diameter. 75 tonnes approx but will sell in 25 tonne loads. Some ash mixed in. Also 25 tonne of oversized Alder 3m lengths up 30 " diameter. Pictures available. Cut and stacked since August.
  11. I can reccomend Laurence Crow Woodland Consultant based just down the road in Capel Surrey.
  12. I've had 2 of these saws. It will cope with most demands short of felling large trees which it can do only longer. Can start to feel a bit heavy if your snedding out all day. Super reliable and I would get another one. No issues in 3 years, first one got flattened by mistake.
  13. What price per hoppus for oak felled and extracted to roadside are people getting currently. I don't mean final sale price, only contracting rate.
