  1. It that time of year to send in your entries if you are intrested. This year it will be at the Doldowlod estate (middle of Wales), and as it is the 25 annaiversary it is going to held over two days with camping. Plus there is going to be a veteran chainsaw section (older than twenty five years). If you are interested ring: Bethan Davies on 01982 554411
  2. I am tempted to go for Italian alder, or at a long long shot some sort of sorbus
  3. What goes on between a man and his saw in the woods, stays in the woods.
  4. Just bought the cs450, will review it once i have given it a good spanking.
  5. Nice setup. Are you able to pick up the winch and a log of that size on the linkage ? The mighty Nuffield of power is struggling with my Fransguard twin drum and 20' long over sized Larch poles.
  6. Day rate or piece work ? Large or small diameter? What do you need to cover your costs, £90 would be a good start. Anything less and you will be flogging yourself to death
  7. First picture Aspen, second Poplar, third Monkey Puzzle (maybe)
  8. Get yourself a lube shuttle grease gun. The cartridges just screw in, so no messing around
  9. yer beat me to the branching out pun, i shall have to go back to leafing through the other posts.
  10. I sell a green load of round wood in a 12' x 6' trailer for £100. Generally its low quality wood that is a pain to process.
  11. As the mentioned above, i need some oak with large pieces of metal preferably steel or iron. Don'y ask why, as it has been explained to me and i did not understand. If by any remote chance someone has can you PM me
  12. How excited............. Nice to do something a bit different.
  13. Hawthorn, but i doubt you will get it big enough. I use a hawthorn mallet for laying paving slabs
  14. One an hour at a guess using a knocker and with three people.
  15. I will be banned if i post a picture of ring swelling.
  16. The water pump takes about half an hour to change, and costs about £35. However if the bolts have rusted in, add another couple of hours.

  19. If farmers stopped flailing their hedges every year, there would be plenty of wood. Plif plaf ploof
  20. I have a ibc in the trailer, which will last for four days including washing out. It also means that i am not transporting water every day. When i fill up the tank ( solo 425,15l) i also fill a tanks worth into an empty 20l container and take that with me so that i am doing two tanks for one walk. I enjoy spraying as i can only spray in dry weather, and it is quiet with no noisy chainsaws. Plif plaf ploof
  21. Nope the last couple of sites the trees were every two steps. Plif plaf ploof
  22. No i spray on foot. Generally i work long days, and can spot spray 1 1/2 to 2 hectares a day. But that depends on terrain Plif plaf ploof
