  1. 6" of woodchip, with 3/4" ply over the top will cope with most traffic upto about 3 tons in weight
  2. Can i just point out that you are driving on the wrong side of the road
  3. Highly indeed, worth at least $10,000.
  4. That's the one. Technically its a TD, but i blew up that engine, and now it's got a 300tdi in it.
  5. What a cracking shot of Labellula depressa.
  6. If i could afford new i would, but i can't so i have to mend and make do.
  7. The last couple of years about £250-£300 including the MOT. However this year just over a £1000. Still it is tax deductible.
  8. At the risk of derailing this thread, i have a spare Landrover manual if anyone wants to swap for something of similar ?
  9. Interesting, the one growing in my garden has never had any autumn color !
  10. This is the fastest way that I have found to dry billets, stacked with a tarp over the top, and home made baffles along the side. Dries quick and no wet ends.
  11. Thanks for the replies, there are a number that i would not have though of. Cheers to the mighty ship of Arb talk
  12. Cheers peoples, good suggestions. Ruskins, my client is coming up with a list as well, and we will compare and argue. Squirrels are the only only issue, despite Bob's best efforts. And i am going for a riot of trees
  13. The location is reasonably sheltered, with deep fertile soil, and a southerly aspect. On my list so far: Himalayian birch and manchurian cherry planted in pairs so when they grow together it appears to one tree with a bi-coloured stem. Chinese scarlet rowan Mulberry Katsura
  14. I have to plant 140 trees this winter for a new arboretum. If you could plant one species, what would it be, and why ??
  15. Lely are the UK importer for Solo: Lely. give them a ring and they will be able to tell you your nearest dealer.
  16. if they are in billets, cut them to size as the orders come in. Everyone gets what they want, and happy.
  17. you will be wanting to look ere: Arbpro
  18. I am using the Marlow 11mm, with th BDB, and i am a heavy climber. It works but not very well, on long descents if you stop it starts to creep, and won't hold. So i am going to have to get a 11.7mm to see if that is any better.
  19. The ivy was adding about half an hour of process time to each tree. It would have been easier to remove it in the wood, but the owner wanted as much brash as possible removed from site. If the rain ever stops i am going to have a massive bonfire with the kids to burn it. Bring on the belly pork.
  20. I was wondering when the stump police would be along. It was left high to allow the skidded stems to go around the corner, without scuffing the trees behind that were being retained.
  21. I started off extracting with the Nuffield, but it was too small to deal with the larger trees. So the Zetor did the lions share. It is not often that i deal with trees of this diameter. On the larger trees the 10m lengths were coming in at 1.5 m3, and the mighty Nuffield was struggling to pull them. But for winching it is ideal.
