  1. There is something inherently satisfying about taking a living tree and chopping it into a million tiny pieces... the satisfaction is heightened even more by the ironic fact that I am a member of the Green Party & take a keen dislike for any human being being 'greener than thou'. However, when it comes to using chemicals (eg; Roundup) I am THE Mr Greener Than Thou. I think the point of my question was that I would like to own my very own chipper. Unfortunately I've since learnt that chippers are way beyond my means so I won't be buying one, even the cheapest one. Think I might hire one. cheers, Steve You can borrow mine if you want it.
  2. Why don't you try the local vernacular; scrap and binder twine.
  3. They are my old oregon chainsaw gloves, they haven't seen the light of day for a few years, as i left my normal gloves in the mighty Nuffield of power.
  4. Cheers peoples, your making me blush.
  5. Don't worry Steve i will barter with you on the of fchance that you win.
  6. Particularly with a rattly old capstan.
  7. I realized that this was the first time i have run the rigging on the ground in about 5 years. I have forgotten how much i enjoyed it.
  8. Spent the morning on the ground rigging for a change. Glorious sunny day, no power lines, phone lines, no houses, or greenhouses to miss, only a road to avoid, hence the rigging.
  9. The CAA will have a fit when someone starts flying one here. Flying chainsaws are not a good idea, particularly if you are a snowman.
  10. That fence will take 10 minutes to take apart and move out of the way. Drop the tree in one, which will be you safest option, and quickest. Any other option is just wasting your time, and putting you in UN-necessary risk.
  11. Some of the large timber must millable, particularly cherry and the unusual timbers. Why not hire in a large splitter to break down to processor size. I bought 30 tons of over size beech 3-4' dia, it was cut, split and stacked in 4 days.
  12. Three wheels on ma waggon, and i'm still rolling along.
  13. Was that the remains of the pine on Bevelin Lane ?
  14. You leave the strap or dogs tooth until last, so you have already cut through the fibers that might cause the the tree to split. It also enables you to change position to a slightly safer one.
  15. Evening Grant, Mike Plumb will probably be your best. M & J Plumb Tree Surgery Pembrokeshire
  16. You are a lucky man to have this orchard to play with. I have always rated Tom Put and Mere de Manage as better cookers. Although bramley if left on the tree until November often becomes much sweeter.
  17. I like the video of your Alstor being unloaded by the timber lorry.
  18. would calipers not be easier ?
  19. We as a nation voted the fools in, therefore it is only to be expected.
  20. Its making me moist just thinking about it. Ohh God:eek:
