  1. It's a sun dog, as David said its light refracting through ice crystals. You also get the same effect with the moon, known as a moon dog. Sent from my D2303 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Good grunt, not utilized enough in tree work.
  3. The drum should just pull out by hand, unless the bearings have seized. One of my drums just pulled off, the other i had to resort to a tirfor winch to pull it off. Heat will help if it is stuck.
  4. This will help Sent from my D2303 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. You will have to take the cable, and cable drum off first, before you drive out the center shaft. I resorted to using an aluminum headed fencing mell to drive out the center shaft You might need a clutch puller to remove the winch activating arm between the nuts and the drum. If the winch has not been used for a while, the bearing will probably be seized, and can be a pig to get off as well. Enjoy. If you e-mail fransgard with the model number, they will email a parts diagram which will help.
  6. It fourteen init? Sent from my D2303 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Just downloaded, and everything is now tickety boo. Cheers Steve. Sent from my D2303 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Evening Steve, i'm getting the same. If i go to the web view the link works from my phone.
  9. Re-grind the hook profile to make it more acute.
  10. I have not had any sales as a result of being BSL registered, or being listed, so i am leaving.
  11. Nope sorry
  12. At the APF this year, someone had a high lift hybrid- Aluminium wedge with a plastic insert. Ment to buy one but got talking and forgot.looked to be a good compromise between the narrow taper of a nylon wedge, and the beat-ability of a high lift. Anyone know who was selling them.

  14. That's why i only use a very sparring amount of copper grease, and remove any excess. My 362 is starting to get a bit stiff, it was last done about three years ago.
  15. No idea why they do it, but all of my Stihl saws have done it from time to time. Pre-emptive does reduce the chances of it happening. Alun Jones of the FCA was talking bout this at the APF this year, he did not know why either.
  16. Its the stud that holds the chain brake activator. Take the plastic cover off, take the chain brake apart, and clean the studs, add a small amount of copper grease to the studs before re-assembling. Most Stihl will have this problem at some point.
  17. I am very envious of where you live, keep living the dream, and a very merry Christmas.
  18. Yay i got a Christmas tree.
  19. The horrendous amounts of Ivy prevented to cable from going higher, and if it went wrong there was nothing to hit. I wanted to see what the winch was capable of, and it wasn't with that tree. We ended putting in a new gob and felling it sideways, with the winch holding it, and a couple of furiously beaten wedges.
  20. We did pick a good couple of weeks with lots of sunshine.
  21. Merry Christmas
  22. I have not even mentioned the mighty Nuffield of power. That cost £700, and was the start of my empire. When you understand their limitations, you can use them to their full potential, and earn a living. They are easy to fix, and cheap to run. The Nuffield will only use one tank of fuel for a weeks winching in the woods.
  23. One of our tree officers works on the assumption that the TPO is valid at the start of the six weeks, and is just as legally binding. Given his annal nature of correct legal procedure, he will have research this in detail I have had a couple of customers in the past try to get me to cut down trees because they don't want TPO's put on their trees.
