  1. I worked with a groundie back in the early / mid 90s who had a target painted on his helmet . He was in and out quick as a Cobra strike lol . He's nearly 54 now and still has a target painted on his helmet . His character is massive and he lifts the team everytime Ive worked with him . A true fruit bat though . Love him I do Nice job by the way
  2. Fencing mate of mine contacted the local Kebab / Pizza House to see who did there leaflets as they are always doubled sided and a quality coloured print . I would do the same as the 5000 he had printed cost peanuts compared to the local printers price In these numbers the leaflets will last him years .
  3. Shavey lol ................ Any tea bag that has been turned into a rusty coloured brew suits me just fine . All the ex army guys will be shouting Nato Nato which = tea two sugars milk This is welcomed by all after a long exercise . Now a days I never refused a brew at work as you never know when the next brew will appear
  4. I would install Cobra bracing near the main trunk and then another brace near the tip of that limb . If in doubt of the safety regarding the youguns then remove the offending limb . Simple really Absolute glowing post / asking advice .
  5. If your after an online diagnosis , Well pics are a must ; )
  6. Well if thats your set up at 21 matey your doing something right I would cut the ladder rack / crossbar off and weld it slightly higher up . Only because it seems to be in the way of the discharge chute . Then fit a mesh / skip net underneath the ladder rack to retain all the chip and foliage . If you put a solid roof on your chip box be prepared for alot of chip dust to be blown back in your face .
  7. I,d go for a tool box that was the length of the tipper bed 2ft deep and 1ft high . Good for fuel , hedge cutters and most saws . Go for more storage now as you will probably need it when the conversion is done . A good Brownchurch roof rack on a landy makes an ace place for another storage box . Also good for hedge work / mobile platform the roof rack that is Just like hodge's beat me to it he did ; )
  8. I try not to drink in the week and if I do its minimal . The weekends however kinda get messy sometimes . Mates popping round etc ? Especially in this weather . They always say what not got the bbq on ? I was looking forward to a beer . Always at my expense . Mind you I did once go through a bad patch when work got to much for me . I was doing a 12 / 14 hr day most days which included Quotes , Invoices , Risk A , Method Statements Paperwork paperwork and more paperwork . All before and after a day on the tools . Thankfully a good friend had a strong word . This made me realise the extent of how much drink ( Spirits ) I was getting through 1/2 a bottle of Vodka most nights . This was a massive wake up call . My good lady had being telling me about it for a while . Just hit home when a real close friend put it to me straight in laymans terms .
  9. Hope your sorted now .
  10. Phew I,m sweating just thinking about that hard ground . This heat does slow you down it can be a nightmare if your not careful . Parish mags are kicking my old yellow pages advert off the bloody map

  12. Im sure Buckland Tree Care Nantwich have access to Keith Thelwells old 70ft cherry picker . The one thats on a 7,5ton wagon
  13. No probs . Always here as a last resort
  14. Work is coming in fast for us . Regarding the heat just drink lots of fluids and have lots of breaks otherwise crack on . Some of you guys are as delicate as little pretty flowers lol .
  15. I have access to a 50ft cherry picker Alsager . Climbing out of the equation I take it . I,m willing to climb it if not to rotten / Dangerous
  16. Commercial just take the niss 90% of the time . Domestic's usually pay up on completion . Which is great really . My hands are covered in hard skin and look rough . This is a testament to how hard this job actually is on your body . After years of quoting you should be able to tell if the customer is a payer or a delayer . If I think the customer is awkward I will quote higher simple as I expect to be mucked about . This is for domestic only . Commercial well most can sod off and leave me alone as they pay late with crap rates and want an amazing job .
  17. Thanks for sharing David . One of my childhood hero's . Just having a whiskey and mulling over his past .Wonder how many youguns he has influenced
  18. Think it may have a home now . Who'd of thought there was that much demand for it
  19. Sorry I cannot help . Although I have pile of Laburnum at the yard . Its been down about 4 months . Free to anyone who wants it . Located Nr M6 Sandbach Services Cheshire .
  20. Was good now gone sour . We got out of it a while back all and sundrie are on it now Check a mong dot com as we call it . I have seen first hand some of the hero's I was quoting against and most of them have difficulty telling the difference between a thuja and a leylandii . The opposition prices normally start at £ 400 and rapidly come down to £120 ? Although they now also look the part
  21. Carritools as a rule are not very durable IMO . Many guys have made there own improved version .
  22. Cool never used a specific ground anchor . Just thought I should mention it as its one of the first things I thought of . Well after a minute or so
  23. Best Vid yet August . Keep spitting chips fella because you were made for this . Dam I need get me a go pro or summit
  24. Thinking about it ? On a domestic job or any job for that matter . Smashing 1 metre long metal spikes into the ground needs to be done with caution . Possibility of hitting Gas , Water and even Electric cable not to mention hitting drainage .
