  1. You do have do buy the right size initially (S,M,L). For instance, you may not feel too comfy in mine (UL). The velcro and ankle straps are fully adjustable, and the comfort is sublime. I actually don't like it now when I can't wear them! No breaking/wearing issues here either. But I don't wear them in the High Street or anything.
  2. Nah. It only touches a soft metal cap with one tooth for a microsecond. I reckon you could open a whole crate, drink it, and still cut drinks coasters for all your bottles. Now that would be a good vid....
  3. Carbon fibre Geckos here. The ultimate.
  4. Saw similar last year and immediately tried it. Nailed it in one take, it's actually easier than it looks. The top went miles!
  5. Why are we in Climber's Talk?
  6. 16. But you won't know when it's blunt....
  7. Thought you'd been commuting!
  8. Joe, have you ever had problems with that splitter shorting out a regular 240v supply? Heard some vague rumours about the more powerful units drawing a lot of juice. I have a £300 5T splitter, which is great for long logs for pubs etc, but is slow and not really powerful enough. If I had enough seasoned cord left I would probably get one, but I'll be sold out by the end of November. Damn customers keep all the good stuff these days!
  9. Get a micro chipper Dave! TBH, MY arse was twitching looking at those Lime pics! Love those leaners when you know somethings going to give at some point.... Rather you than me mate!
  10. I was thinking that! Must be the best paid groundie in the country!
  11. Too right mate. Lets face it, it wouldn't be too hard to catch rogue traders if they really wanted to, would it? They know where their sites are. Another pointless waste of time IMO. Be good if they got serious though.
  12. Great job Tom. Was it at Middleton in Northumberland?
  13. This is the truth. I run a Transit double cab with ali greedy boards, and every time I fill it with chip, cord, whatever I am breaking the law on weight regs. Fact. It is very reliable, warm, comfy, has loads of room for gear, blokes and dogs, but off road, even lightly, is s***e. My mate runs Landrovers, 110 and 130 tippers and TD5 Defender. They are all the opposite of all the good points above, BUT, they are king off-road (with Goodrich tyres), and they could pull a train out of a toffee ditch. You decide what you want mate, but there is nowt perfect.
  14. Dammit! Sheasby has gazumphiflexed me again! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
  15. Got several pairs of Hiflex that have fallen to bits. I get my Mam to cannibalise mine when I go home. What material are you after? I charge £200 for a small segment, but I am prepared to pay the postage on this. Scottish Islands or Eire extra, of course.
  16. You lads should get a room! The reason some appear to drop off Arbtalk is, like me, they ask s**t loads of questions for six months. Then spend another six months building up a great network of contract climbers, groundies, machine operators, contacts abroad etc., then are sorted so don't post much anymore. Or end up addicted like the rest of us. Simple.
  17. Just an add-on really. Pair Rich and I did this week, mine dead for three years, looked menacing, bark coming off in sheets under my spikes, but the timber was strong, sound and heavy right up there. Rich's tree still had leaf on this year, but massive heartwood decay in nearly every piece, incredibly light brittle timber. You never can tell!
  18. Saw it. Jo looked awesome, but the 'fun' tree climbing by amateurs looked stodgy, slow and, erm, not much fun. My wife commented - 'they are not climbing trees, they are climbing ropes!'
  19. Marc, what's the crack with the little chain in pic 4? Is it a failsafe in case the union splits? Great job mate. It's beginning to look like you and Qtip know how to do this tree work thing....
  20. Naah bro, they would surely interfere with my magnetic wrist bands?
  21. Is that a one-off cost mate? Like the sound of it, and I'm thinking of getting an Iphone.
