  1. Too right mate. Lets face it, it wouldn't be too hard to catch rogue traders if they really wanted to, would it? They know where their sites are. Another pointless waste of time IMO. Be good if they got serious though.
  2. Great job Tom. Was it at Middleton in Northumberland?
  3. This is the truth. I run a Transit double cab with ali greedy boards, and every time I fill it with chip, cord, whatever I am breaking the law on weight regs. Fact. It is very reliable, warm, comfy, has loads of room for gear, blokes and dogs, but off road, even lightly, is s***e. My mate runs Landrovers, 110 and 130 tippers and TD5 Defender. They are all the opposite of all the good points above, BUT, they are king off-road (with Goodrich tyres), and they could pull a train out of a toffee ditch. You decide what you want mate, but there is nowt perfect.
  4. Dammit! Sheasby has gazumphiflexed me again! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
  5. Got several pairs of Hiflex that have fallen to bits. I get my Mam to cannibalise mine when I go home. What material are you after? I charge £200 for a small segment, but I am prepared to pay the postage on this. Scottish Islands or Eire extra, of course.
  6. You lads should get a room! The reason some appear to drop off Arbtalk is, like me, they ask s**t loads of questions for six months. Then spend another six months building up a great network of contract climbers, groundies, machine operators, contacts abroad etc., then are sorted so don't post much anymore. Or end up addicted like the rest of us. Simple.
  7. Just an add-on really. Pair Rich and I did this week, mine dead for three years, looked menacing, bark coming off in sheets under my spikes, but the timber was strong, sound and heavy right up there. Rich's tree still had leaf on this year, but massive heartwood decay in nearly every piece, incredibly light brittle timber. You never can tell!
  8. Saw it. Jo looked awesome, but the 'fun' tree climbing by amateurs looked stodgy, slow and, erm, not much fun. My wife commented - 'they are not climbing trees, they are climbing ropes!'
  9. Marc, what's the crack with the little chain in pic 4? Is it a failsafe in case the union splits? Great job mate. It's beginning to look like you and Qtip know how to do this tree work thing....
  10. Naah bro, they would surely interfere with my magnetic wrist bands?
  11. Is that a one-off cost mate? Like the sound of it, and I'm thinking of getting an Iphone.
  12. Big question mate. What's your approx budget? As Moz says, tipper essential. How's your trailer reversing? Another advantage of Dangerous's Cabstar choice is it's ability to fit up narrow drives Decide if you need a 4x4 or not - adds to the cost. Nowt wrong with Transits. Mine gives me loads of room to advertise my lucky heather sales, and tows my caravan and family of nine a treat! Good luck with it.
  13. Plippy - is that you Phil, RTC? Sorry haven't replied to your voice mail yet mate, my phone has been in a pond! I'm up for it. It is too bloody early, but totally agree with diaries getting booked up etc. To keep costs down I suggest a big fire at my yard. Bring your own booze and hookers. Jobs a good 'un.
  14. Really rate them, as Ed says no different, and their service is excellent.
  15. Nooooooooo! Get a yellow one so we can all be in the same gang! And you can be seen easier if you get buried under an eco-chip mountain in a back garden!
  16. Nice house you've got there mate! Why was the stub left?
  17. That's it then Rupe. Northface relegated to pub walking. Been looking for an excuse....
  18. Boy named Sue - Johny Cash - Geddit?
  19. The Big Lad did that today - it was the only part that got wet!
