  1. Where is the prevailing wind loading coming from? Would taking both leaders out at the same height as the proposed 'topping' cut not present a better long term option? Might make for a more balanced crown eventually. And you could charge more!
  2. Think Stevie might need a hand there Mr Bell. He's heard how good these TW125's are, but can't admit it on a public forum. You have a 300 mile head start on me, so you crack on up there and I'll follow when I've finished pulling these rose-thorns oot me nad-sack.

    Hi

Welcome mate. Loads of good advice on here. Oh, and there's mine as well! Don't know the Mascall brothers do you?
  4. I believe our very own Stephen Blair pioneered a method invoving a hammer and some felt tacks? Bit of mud rubbed on usually does the trick until after you have been paid....
  5. It was helped by the 'Geordie feed method'. You know, when the profit is fast disappearing and there's still loads to do.... Dean, would you wake up with a hard on again?
  6. Not saying OP is bad at all Jarnii, but for me it took a while to bed in on a VT where AP was spot on straight off the reel. I think different body weights and climbing styles play a big part in which rope/hitch cord combo suits each individual. Having a play when there is no money at stake is the best way to test new stuff. New hitch slipping over a greenhouse isn't that great!
  7. Couple from yesterday and this morning. Goat Willow clad in dog-rose and 40 feet of ivy covered Sycamore. One illegal load of chip, two loads of cord. Underpriced for a mate to cap it off. One to erase from the memory bank forever. TW125 did well though. Hour in total.
  8. ......any more than they do already.
  9. Love the Pine job Marc. The Birch looked less fun! Welcome back.
  10. On the longevity front, long descents on a fig 8 backed up by a slightly loosened hitch do increase the wear time. And reduce the blisters on the fingers! Mind you, I normally just shuffle back down my ladder these days.
  11. Mozza, lend us £37000 next week can you?
  12. There is an evil face hiding in that semi-decayed Ash (?) butt Tony! There's some really gnarly stuff in old hedgerows that have been layed years ago. Good find.
  13. A new rope is cheaper than a long fall Bro.
  14. I spotted that as well. You bludger!
  15. Must-have bit of kit. Just need to convert Rich now Mick. I've been looking for a 3-foot version to fit his leg.
  16. If you don't climb into connies at the pricing stage you're asking for trouble.
  17. Big Andy's 'Polishing a Turd' thread! I love it, and it will be coming to a leylandii near me very soon.
  18. Ditto. Anything else is a compromise.
