  1. Ain't that the truth! Re the stitching thing, if the inserts were designed to fit back into the shells with poppers/buttons/loops/velcro etc. this wouldn't be an issue, would it? It's not rocket science. If the spare outers were realistically priced I'm sure most of us would replace them regularly and smarten our image up. Hama's right - we are being very obviously ripped off at the moment. 2011 Stretch Airs RRP? £300 inc VAT. It's a joke, and a bad one.
  2. Ballsy felling that with a step cut. Dadio will be well jealous.
  3. Must admit my keks last a little longer since I've started refusing to reduce Hawthorns! Just had a look at the price of Stretch Air NON PROTECTIVE climbing trousers - basically same as the type C's but with no ballistic inners. £160!!!!!!!!! Has the world gone mad! That's that idea FUBAR'd then....
  4. I honestly believe they are designed to fall apart after a year or two to keep us spending £200 on the bloody things! If someone came up with a pair where you could just buy new outers and stick the ballistic inserts in with poppers they would be on a winner. Are you listening Stretch Air? Like you Dan, I've got loads of old pairs lying around in tatters with pristine kevlar inside.
  5. Does anyone know the guy from the YP stock photos? Navy wifebeater, tat round bicep, Vertex Vent lid. He doesn't half get around!
  6. Same here. Seeing something at the cinema for the first time is awesome for some films. Rocky IV, Top Gun, Point Break and Gladiator were all great cinematic experiences, but they are also must-haves for home viewing. My set up is bog standard widescreen telly though.
  7. Have you seen Dog Soldiers Lorry? Just watched the trailer for Dead Mans Shoes. Need to get that watched! Platoon is one of my favourites, never get tired of watching it. Anyone rate 'Touching the Void'? Book was good.
  8. That's priceless Sparko, reminds me so much of my dog doing her 'nasty' face.
  9. Hang in one before you buy it mate. Can you get to any of the shows? Capel is only a month away.
  10. 3 ingredients here. Add a bit of James as a young climber looking to be a great arborist. Add Reg Coates, renowned master. Add Arbtalk for putting them together. Result will probably be pretty tasty! Well done fellas!
  11. This type are gradually being eradicated due to head injuries....
  12. I know the feeling. NOT! Bed for me, catch you soon mate.
  13. No mate. I meant a fiver would....
  14. Thanks mate, I'll have a look at Johns setup at Capel and may take you up on that, but you haven't sold it very well! Did you ever hear back on that crane job on that big Duggie?
  15. Tenner an inch hopefully. Still, marvellous how much fresh water a fiver will provide.
  16. Sorry mate, read your name as BadgerMATT! Yes, they are hard to conduct everyday facial activities with. Will probably end up using mine as a sex aid.
  17. Hear that Jess. I do a lot of work on shortish but chunky Oaks, so 3.5m is about right for stropping on when advancing my main line. May go a bit longer if the 10mm/bag thing works.
  18. Nice one Matt. Did a mile fun run at Ashfords Julie Rose athletics stadium in full ballistics, lid, climbing kit (minus rope but plus Sawpod and Zubat!). Somehow feel I didn't set a new Personal Best.... Couldn't breathe properly with the bloody nose on!
  19. I've put me doing that on here before. No discernible damage to teeth. There's one somewhere of a guy carving his initials in his toenails with a 44! AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
  20. We've pulled off several jobs when we have found nests with eggs or fledglings in, and each time the customer was happy for us to come back and finish after the 'birds have flown'. It's not great financially at the time, but word gets around that you are a pro outfit and I'm sure the birds appreciate it. As an aside, I found dove squabs two years ago in January, completing the full twelve months when I've found nesting birds. Climate change? Whatever, the nesting season seems so extended now you can't just stop working. Good observation and common sense are key.
  21. Not often, but tried 1.5m and it just wasn't enough at times. Not my crab that trails, its the stopper knot end. Yes. Takes too long. Can't afford to go any slower than I do already mate!
