  1. Jesus! Hope the fella is ok, fractured skull and stitches are always 'life changing' a little bit. I'm guessing drugs or psychosis was involved. I'm HOPING drugs or psychosis was involved, for all our sakes.
  2. Nice day for it Jon, but I'm miles ahead of you. I could have taken off much more than that!
  3. Nice one John. I thought you'd finally lost the plot completely till I scrolled down! Good karma there Rob, pro touch holding off the conny, and cash in the bank in September.
  4. Not many lie about their size and come up with a smaller number John. I forgive you.
  5. No worries on the hypocrisy front mate, I've taken it to new heights myself! Have the ISC 2-way on my wirecore, and wouldn't swap it. It's such a tidy little unit as well, which is what I'm going for with my new setup. Fit for purpose all the way here. Concerned whether 8mm AP (here we go again) will grip ok with 10mm Beal or similar, or if I'm going to have to splash out for a Cinch (as Ross pointed out).
  6. Can I get away with 10mm and a 2-way snap without the tree climbing police busting my ass?
  7. Just tried a Moon Trad chalk bag, clipped with a small crab to the right/rear of my harness, behind the large caritool I high-clip my 200 onto. Seems to work really well, but my lanyard is a scruffy old bit of 13mm Marlow, and is pretty stiff. I'm going to replace that with something 10mm and supple, which I think will be a nice neat set-up. Any recommendations for 10mm line? John, which Beal are you on? I'll post a pic tomorrow.
  8. Cheers mate. I don't usually get up before 6 though....
  9. Spent half an hour trying to get the mix screws right, can't find the bloody handbook. Can anyone explain the procedure to reset it, H, L and Run. I don't have a tacho. Thanks.
  10. Ross do you want me to walk Mani when you have two broken ankles after pressing the 'down' button from 50ft?
  11. That's my take on it as well Lee, but I won't drop too much as it's still hard graft! Good repeat business, and, as Mick has said, if you work hard and fast, and still to a good standard, you will reap the rewards. I find hedgecutting more tiring than climbing.
  12. They will probably start tomorrow Carl. Can't drive their Bentleys after an afternoon drinking Champagne and smoking massive cigars, sat round a woodburner chucking on wads of twenties....
  13. Now we're talking Tone. Pfanner/whoever - remember that Arborwear trousers, which are tough, comfy and well designed sell for about £40, so lets not hear any BS about massive R&D costs. Get it sorted. And use the same zips that the old biddys in the dry cleaners use. They put you to shame.
  14. Les, don't feel the need to defend them. The material might be expensive, but it is NO justification to charge HUNDREDS of pounds for a pair. Blatant profiteering, pure and simple.
  15. Donnie Brasco is a pretty good film I forgot to mention, as is The Usual Suspects, but it does your head in!
  16. Ain't that the truth! Re the stitching thing, if the inserts were designed to fit back into the shells with poppers/buttons/loops/velcro etc. this wouldn't be an issue, would it? It's not rocket science. If the spare outers were realistically priced I'm sure most of us would replace them regularly and smarten our image up. Hama's right - we are being very obviously ripped off at the moment. 2011 Stretch Airs RRP? £300 inc VAT. It's a joke, and a bad one.
  17. Ballsy felling that with a step cut. Dadio will be well jealous.
  18. Must admit my keks last a little longer since I've started refusing to reduce Hawthorns! Just had a look at the price of Stretch Air NON PROTECTIVE climbing trousers - basically same as the type C's but with no ballistic inners. £160!!!!!!!!! Has the world gone mad! That's that idea FUBAR'd then....
  19. I honestly believe they are designed to fall apart after a year or two to keep us spending £200 on the bloody things! If someone came up with a pair where you could just buy new outers and stick the ballistic inserts in with poppers they would be on a winner. Are you listening Stretch Air? Like you Dan, I've got loads of old pairs lying around in tatters with pristine kevlar inside.
  20. Does anyone know the guy from the YP stock photos? Navy wifebeater, tat round bicep, Vertex Vent lid. He doesn't half get around!
  21. Same here. Seeing something at the cinema for the first time is awesome for some films. Rocky IV, Top Gun, Point Break and Gladiator were all great cinematic experiences, but they are also must-haves for home viewing. My set up is bog standard widescreen telly though.
  22. Have you seen Dog Soldiers Lorry? Just watched the trailer for Dead Mans Shoes. Need to get that watched! Platoon is one of my favourites, never get tired of watching it. Anyone rate 'Touching the Void'? Book was good.
  23. That's priceless Sparko, reminds me so much of my dog doing her 'nasty' face.
