  1. Thanks for sharing Wonky. I can honestly say I’ve never needed a Prince Albert to help pissing my trousers.
  2. Is it true you’ve got some rabbits tattooed on your head because from a distance they look like hares?
  3. James Hoddy put Highlander Kingpins on his and used to drive round in a mudbath. I’ve got Fedima AT’s on the rears on mine, which are cheapo BFG copies, but come in the right size. It’s no 4x4, but they definitely help on wet grass. Anything too soft and you will just end up more stuck!
  4. Yes. We were swilling beers with a dream client while playing pool with him on his outdoor table and I lost my third game.
  5. They do keep on keepin’ on, those old 150’s. Glad I wasn’t stood beside it when the fins shat themselves, like.
  6. Sounds like a real peach that one Jack!
  7. Check your original sentence Stu, it sounds like a call centre sales person. Mine was about £13k, but that was 18 months ago, and pre-lurgy. It’s a very capable machine, and I still love it, but my mate who I split work with went for the 230 and it’s a different beast for not a massive weight increase. I think he paid about £17.5k. If he doesn’t need to push it around off the hitch like we do with the 160, then spend the extra and go 230. Rosemary Brennan at Greenplant is the person to ask. Her brother Danny works there as well, a top bloke who has worked with chippers, not some suit or agri-fitter who doesn’t know the specific machines. They’ve gone above and beyond for me in the past.
  8. It was actually Ursula Andress. Pay attention 007....
  9. I’ve got a Petzl Reactik+, mainly for dog walks, sometimes runs. Just in now, bloody dark up the woods! Ticks every box for me at 300 lumens, I don’t need more. Handy for camp as well, with red light facility. I’ve just ordered a Petzl Zipka for the truck as well, also 300 lumens and it’s tiny. Can’t find my original one, which I’ve had for years, think that was 200 lumens. Really handy for unloading and tipping off at night, and sub-£25.
  10. Alright Geoff! You knew Al Lawrence didn’t you? Tragic loss.
  11. Now that’s a cruise!
  12. What are you on about?
  13. Most of them sound like a good weekend back in the day!
  14. Think I got 2, unless Thames/Broads trips count as a cruise? I’ve never skydived.
  15. I might give one of these a go for groundwork. Oilskin, so totally unbreathable, but none of them are when it’s pissing down, are they? Look at the price as well! www.aspli.com
  16. Just as long as we are in town.
  17. XTC is a classic though, happy memories.
  18. Pfanner seem to fit me really well Sam, and are light and comfy (chainsaw trouser speaking). They are hardwearing as well, especially the Gladiators. I’m sure others will have horror stories about them. Definitely a lot of choice now. I started out in Husky bib and brace back in the day, and died of heat exhaustion many times.
  19. Rope bags for sale. PM me for details.
  20. Come to think of it, rope bags are shit.
  21. The first one is dumping 50m of rope at the base of a 15’ tree makes you look like a 17 year old. I suppose an advantage of this would be you could spend an extra 5 minutes at the end of a climb telling your groundies how great you are while coiling your rope back up alpine stylee.
  22. The Courant bags are very good. I was envious when Rich got his, instant accessibility and visibility for all your gear, including lid. I’ll get one when my black ex-army deployment bag (about £25) wears out, which will probably be never. In this, I have mountains of barely used shite, as well as my ‘grab bag’ of basic climbing kit, which is a cheapo DMM rucksack that Skyland sell. All the usual bar spikes in there. My ropes are always in separate rope bags. So many good reasons for that, if you don’t know them I can’t be bothered to explain.
  23. Try before you buy Sam. It’s the only way. I know your location doesn’t help, but Treekit are in Christchurch, definitely worth popping over. Dan is spot on, the ‘best’ are the best for you. I love my Pfanners, but Dan is about 3 feet taller and 10 stone heavier than me. * * Weight difference possibly slightly exaggerated for effect.
