  1. The Pfanners are a really gay colour Joe, you should probably go for them.
  2. I was actually being serious for once, but I knew I was in for it as soon as I typed that!
  3. Result. We had strong winds here yesterday and a big pop came down in the village. Loads more bits of the willow came down on the bowls club as well (small bits). The club secretary thought it would be a good time to approach the owner, and it was. He is now totally onside with allowing access. ?
  4. It’s not good that it’s become so common though.
  5. That’s not a good thing though, is it? I’m as guilty as anyone, but I think we should all avoid it on here when we can. It loses its impact if it’s common as well.
  6. I'll avoid the normal pictures of bondage stilettos etc. then. I have the Andrews and personally find them great with spikes. And, as you know, I spike pretty much everything, especially on the back of the tree. Built in loop is indeed handy. Comfy from the off as well. They might not suit your nail varnish though....
  7. Exposure is the big one for me as well.
  8. Thanks mate. TBH if he refuses to be reasonable I’ll probably just threaten to batter him if he kicks off about me climbing his trees. Holding pensioners to ransom, who are the village stalwarts, is the act of a cretinous bully.
  9. The dead tops looked bastardish Reg, but the scenery is unbelievable. The knot in the first one was properly mugging you off! Wicked terrain. You must have one leg longer than the other after that job. Really appreciate you posting these vids mate, thanks.
  10. Flat fe Flat felt. You still couldn’t remove the limbs without climbing the tree. It’s not a polesaw and ladders tiddler, everything would have to be rigged.
  11. That will be a great send off for Phil when the time comes.
  12. Thanks Paul. To be fair I think we’ll try the reasonable approach first and see where we get. No access for scissor lift - the club has been built round and landlocked for years. Access is only via an alley then a right angled turn through a narrow garden gate. The clubhouse in question would then be in the way in any case.
  13. Hopefully Ratman. They’ve already had several snapped limbs on their roof. Shame if it had to get legal. Why can’t people just be reasonable?
  14. I’ve got a problem in that the local bowls club have asked me to cut back branches on a crack willow overhanging there clubhouse. It simply can’t be done from the ground, and there is no access for a MEWP. The tree owner is a renowned arsehole, and is refusing permission to access his tree. The job can’t be done without doing this, for anchors and rigging points. Where do they stand legally?
  15. Great attitude Peds! That pop looked nasty Don. That’s a mad spec Ian, fair play to the bloke for giving it a chance. Where’s the harm, eh? Yesterdays euc rj. Halfway through the lady of the house ‘wanted more off’, but was talked out of it. They were pleased with the result in the end. Not my job, I was just hired muscle. Danny Mac up top, me, Von and Broadley on the deck. 8m3 of chip, 1/2 Tranny load of heavy. Pub in time for the rugby.
  16. That’s ridiculous Mick. That bloke about 85 seconds in was clearly offside.
  17. Let’s hope we never find out! Bottom line is, if you’ve got anyone working for you, freelance or not, you need EL.
  18. That’s trickier though. The dragger is an employee of the company, but he’s working for Mick on the day. Whose EL if he gets injured? Mick’s or the main contractors? On the plus side he’s definitely insured by someone!
  19. Your insurance if the job’s done under your direction to your timescale with your kit. Their guy in the van has thrown a spanner in the works, though, and I’m not drinking tonight! I’ve had the same, main contractors guys running chip round for us in dumpers etc. I’d just leave the insurance companies to scrap it out, probably. That’s what I pay them for! I need a drink....
  20. That’s bona fide subcontractor territory, which is different.
  21. If they’re climbing for me and the shit hits the fan Mick, they would be covered by my EL. There is no grey area at all.
  22. Looks smart Jack. How are you finding it in day-to-day arb work?
