  1. The decision is part of the planning system and that's supposed to be fair and impartial for all so the decision ought to be based on the merits of the case.
  2. They have statutory powers so the response would be no or possibly yes but its gonna cost you
  3. The days of Mr Mainwaring are long dead and gone. Most banks have had a pimply youth and a spread sheet for a long time now
  4. That's filler text, often used as mock up for incomplete web pages Maybe the sites not supposed to be live yet
  5. I am 50 years old and have spent 49 of them storing problems for myself. I hate smoking but I do like food.
  6. No, not application, but a "211" notification. As before, in a conservation area notification should be made, (unless you intend to make use of the dead and dangerous exemption). The authority then has the opportunity to protect the tree with a TPO. Anyone can file a 211 notification, its a planning application, in broad context like any other regardless of ownership or any interest. A couple of years back there was an example where a resident made an application to build in the garden of a supermarket boss because they made an application to build a supermarket.
  7. No problems answering My father died of a heart condition and the quacks tell me I need to take care because I am genetically pre disposed My heart attack was so minor, I just thought I had a touch of flu. the stroke however flattened me like an express train. Didn't come around for over 2 weeks and the nurses had me odds on for a box In the past I largely ignored my health relying instead on hard work and my immortality, that was a bad plan, anyone relying on it is foolish. I wouldn't have listened so I don't expect anyone else will. Do what you want with your health folks but don't be surprised if life bights you in the ass.
  8. Traditional wisdom has us use graphite powder Silicone will hold grit and dust although once you have dragged your hardware around a greasy sycamore its not going to make a lot of difference What is more important is regular inspection and cleaning
  9. Thanks for asking Its slow going, I get a treatment for the heart attack and the subsequent stroke that was likely a result of the blood thinners that come as standard treatment for the heart attack Bad living and genetic pre disposition were the causes so be careful how you live Recovery is steady, by all accounts my progress is little short of miraculous but I am quite impatient. Stay healthy people and don't abuse your bodies.
  10. Then you need the Pfanners
  11. Nothing to debate, just a statement of fact
  12. The point is that some LA's try to give the general public the impression that they have powers they simply don't have. I know one that's particularly fond of doing it
  13. No consent in CA. the LA can make a TPO or allow the notified works to proceed
  14. Its time we waited for fact and less guess work
  15. The things the report describes are hard to mistake and even harder to argue with, get a second by all means but,,,,,,,,, A first year student would be able to spot these defects
  16. You can disagree all you want but the report doesn't say its going to croak (till phytopthora gets to it) but is says its likely to fail structurally. Get someone who understands the wording to explain the significance
  17. It says the tree has structural problems and intervention will be needed, probably in the form of felling
  18. Testing something and abusing it are 2 different things
  19. You could always try selling it on arbtrader
  20. That's because back then it was a top of the line tractor Now a lot are relegated to yard scrapers. Yours is clean though
  21. But at least you can get your groceries, there is as supermarket on the old tractor plant site
  22. Its a perfectly adequate rope, particularly suitable for a first timer on double rope system
  23. Yup I used to consider myself indestructible till I had a heart attack and a stroke Look after your health, its all you really own
  24. I hesitate to bring this up but for our purposes there is inspection rather than testing. As far as insurance for inspections goes just speak to providers and look for insurance for lifting equipment rather than anything tree related
