  1. Trees on boundaries aren't usually considered shared, (although neighbours might agree to share the burden), it belongs to one party and is trespassing on the other who has the right to remove any encroachment (subject to protection) I am another in the muller the top off camp and I will go as far as to say that given the nature of the original cuts at the "pollard" and I use that term with reservation, keeping re growth under control is a necessary evil
  2. It would be best practice to record pre use inspections but its not required by the regulations or the ACOP. Recording a weekly inspection would be a wise but is similarly not required, however in the event of an incident you need to be able to prove to the powers that be that you were taking your duties seriously. You are correct that new equipment does not require a through inspection until the relevant inspection period has expired however it would be wise to raise an inspection sheet for new equipment at its "into service" date. This ensures that it gets its thorough inspection at the proper date and that, in the case of textiles it's retirement date can be determined. More importantly it demonstrates a professional attitude to the duties under LOLER, and it only takes a few moments to do.
  3. If Heineken made groundies,................. they wouldn't be any better than that Nice job
  4. Interested, PM sent
  5. What general info? how am I supposed to know you are just titing around in his thread, what don't you like about the spelling:confused1:, Microsoft's spell checker is happy with it.
  6. That's big of you, why don't you call him like he asked, prove you can follow a simple instruction:001_rolleyes:
  7. Good effort, well worth a go is it was otherwise chipper fodder
  8. Looks like a graft to me
  9. Check the systems oil level, it sounds like you have air in the system. Air will cause hesitation in the ram movement outward but possibly not on the return stroke because the volume occupied by the rod means you need less oil for the return stroke.
  10. Ahhh yes, but convince myself says the extra weight would make a difference, also my authority made us have 2 extra wheelie bins under penalty of law and then had the cheek to tell us what sort of stuff we could or more significantly COULDNT put in the plastics bin. If you are recycling recycle it all not just the easy stuff to tick a box in government targets
  11. Well I like it:biggrin: But they don't have the biner in the shop
  12. In good "convince myself" style I tell myself that anything I put on the burner is a good thing because I am saving the world from the use of fossil fuels involved in getting it to the recycling centre processing and doing god knows what to it, in good "convince myself and crack on with it" style I am going to declare "its a grey area"
  13. I have a mechanic friend who recons a filter element from a 1.8 (minimum) engine is worth at least a tank full of hot water
  14. Nope, if it were timing it wouldn't run even on ether, and if its got the original engine there is no timing belt
  15. On that year it was probably born as a 2.5 turbo which is a nasty wheezy as attic thing and a long way short of a TDi So he is trying to flog you a 2.5 turbo NON RUNNER with a rusty chassis, I haven't seen it but I will bet my next meal the chassis will need some work. If its had a galv chassis at some point, as well as me loosing my supper, it may be worth buying it and fitting a TDi but if the chassis is a basket case it's a complete re build. Either way you don't want to be parting with that kind of money. If its just a fuel issue it want to be about £800 as a non runner, if the chassis is goosed half a grand would be about right. Others will tell you that it's worth more but there is no cure for landroveritis or masochism.
  16. OK so its got fuel starvation, could be filters, could be a bad lift pump, could be crud in the tank blocking the pick up, could even be a knackered injector pump. When he says it starts on easy start, what he means is it wont run but it will fire on ether which isn't saying much. What year is it and how much is he asking?
  17. Firstly stop arsing about with the ether, its not a good idea Your engine has fuel problems, what engine is it?
  18. If by leak off hose you mean the spill return system, it goes back to the fuel tank, its under pressure (slight) so any issue will be a fluid leak, not drawing air, even if it did draw air it goes to the tank and plays no part in the running if the engine.
  19. You are just the latest in a long line of people looking for loop holes, firstly lets point out that what you have read is guidance not the law. Your argument relies on semantics, you cite And you are taking the “in a manner likely to destroy” to apply to all the actions whereas it actually applies to the wilful damage part and the “cut down, lop, top, uproot” parts are all offence absolute. Your opinion that Is also flawed, there have been any number of successful prosecutions
  20. In a case where tree works are needed to implement full planning consent the consent trumps TPO. Outline planning dosent cut the mustard
  21. Mac 9? Where is that then
  22. You can download the deeds from the land registry for a couple of quid ( provided the property is registered)
  23. It boils down to the HSE, I think Francis Hirst is still in charge at the wood sector, I can dig out the phone number if you like or you can just Google HSE wood sector, they were based at Stoneleigh park but that might have changed.
  24. If its a leak in the "leak off" (spill return) system, that goes back to tank and has nothing to do with how the engine runs
  25. Or dirt in the fuel tank
