No. The aaac has its place and is a different scheme than the chas,safe contractor types out there, It has made very little difference to my working practices as I was safe before the accreditation, just the same way if I was an unsafe contractor and paid a consultant to get me the accreditation my work practises would still be unsafe as its just a box ticking exercise. For it to be done right you should be assessed as you do on the aa scheme, only then would you really earn it through proper practise ( but no one would do it,especially in Scotland:001_smile:) So my comment still stands on it being a money making concern because they don't care who gets it as long as they can supply the paperwork.

  6. I have been told by one of my commercial clients that I have to be safe contractor accredited to do any more work for them, I have CHAS accreditation is it much different from that to attain for anyone that's got it. Don't bother putting a link up I've seen the safe contractor site. Cheers

Word of mouth is a good way to get work, but I bet most of us get work from lots of different sources yell, google, paper adverts, leaflet drops, van sign written, word of mouth, various contacts etc etc try lots of different mediums and get get your name out there especially if you are just starting off in business.
  8. I find it ok, It only cost me £500 a year so its pennies and it certainly brings in work.

Silky change your avatar picture you have no visor or glasses on I wear prescription glasses but try to remember to put my visor down as well, hope the dog recovers quick, dogs are survivers they adapt very quick, one of my dogs went blind through distemper and within a month she was racing about the garden just dodging the obstacles

  19. I use these trousers and they are holding up well, they are comfortable to climb in and don't rip anywhere as easy as the crepe paper hi flex. , I grudge paying over £200 for a pair of trousers these trousers were great value for money.
  20. Make sure the wee arc is fan assisted to keep it cool to save it tripping so much, arc is better if you are welding outside. At £40 buy and stick bits of steel together, weldings fun I have mig,arc and a gas welding set up.
