  1. poor little blighter was only on the scout for the nasty things you dont want living in your house...
  2. ahh, fair play. even better job than i thought then:thumbup:
  3. structural alterations to a helmet are a big no-no... nice job tho, i do hate peltor style wirey muffs
  4. guessing the sprocket tip oregon is standard husky .058gauge....?
  5. hmmm, two 32-36" husky bars? sprocket tip or hard-nose? the right bar would give you a reasonable discount on that basket-case 088 ive got....
  6. got a 36" .063 gauge .404 sprocket tip husky bar in the trading post...
  7. another cool video tom, very enjoyable:thumbup1:
  8. i'll sell you a mattock for half the price of a grinder hire:001_tt2:
  9. the 8 tooth sprocket makes all the difference! with a 7tooth there is little difference in cutting speed between a 70 and 90cc saw (running 25"bars)... now, open up the muffler and massage the ports a little and try that 066 with a 9pin mwa ha ha:w00t: come across any 84"dbh trees that have warranted that 42" bar yet dave?
  10. very nice view tom, turned into a cracking day:cool1: watch out for them zubats.... most bloodthirsty bats of them all!
  11. husky 390 is an excellent saw... as is the makita/dolmar 7900 handle them both, see what you think:001_smile: if you are up this end of the county i have a 7900 you can test...
  12. cramming branches in the back of a pickup would be a waste of time in my opinion... chipping into one is do-able for little jobs, and handy for jobs off the beaten track. but then you can get a perfectly reasonable tipper for the cost of a decent pickup
  13. nice little job to do at half 8 next sunday evening:biggrin:
  14. warranty claim! the 7900 has been around for a while and ive heard about no problems regarding the quality of the handle plastics. (have a look on the arboristsite chainsaw forum, there are hundreds of 7900 owners on there (and several big dolmar dealers) and no reported issues with the handle)... ive certainly leant on mine and it seems as robust as any other saw
  15. get yourself a copy of; woodturning - a foundation course by keith rowley... excellent book, and a good starting point.
  16. want another one? they are damn fine saws... i saw your thread on AS about your 346 with the random bit of plastic in the carb... i just dont use mine enough... since getting a ms200, i tend to jump from 35cc-70cc. havent used the 346 in a month or more. shame, poor little thing
  17. i know a man with the creme de la creme of 50cc saws for sale in the trading post...
  18. too good for firewood?
  19. all well and good until you try to actually order one.... damn pesky treehuggers

    372xp

there is no news on the next gen of big saws from stihl yet, tho it is thought by some that the 441 is the replacement for both the 440 and 460! the ms362 on the other hand, should see the light of day by the end of next year...

    372xp

372xp excellent saw... cant really fault it. love my 044.... but now replaced by the fat bottomed girl that is the 441... not my bag, get more power for the same weight in the 460 makita/dolmar 7900... another option, more power than all of them, less weight than the 441 and 460... handle a few, see what you think
  22. i meant to say... the website is looking good mate, it was a bit sparse when i was on it last (a while ago). good stuff:thumbup1:
  23. unless you buy syrup by the gallon... i wouldnt stuff hundreds of feet of line into a tin and expect it to come out again smoothly and un-tangled...
  24. as for stihl vs tiny tach... i believe the refresh rate is quicker on the tiny tach than the edt7, a feature i like (dont want to be running a saw at full throttle with no load for longer than necissary) i think the older stihl edt5 had a quicker refresh rate than the edt7. however, the edt7 tach is the only one that will work on new-age electronically controlled carbs ( ms280i and the soon to be released husky 576autotune)... not an issue for most
  25. you can replace the batteries in the stihl tach (as well as most sealed tachs).... you just have to carefully cut a hole in the back of the unit and change the battery. no problem for an engineering legend like deano... and if it goes tats up, you get to break something rather than throw it away... bonus:001_smile:
