  1. Dont look good then if every one is out of it.
  2. Any chance of Stihl seeing this thread & offering its thoughts?
  3. Lets say I am willing to pay £110 but ask you what you want & you want £90. I am on a winner. Lets say I want to pay £90 but you want £110. You might still take the job but leave soon after for the extra £20 so I will have extra costs re advertising the job & the lost time. So employers ask what you want so they can win both ways. Plus for the right person they might up the wage to secure you, but they are not going to offer that wage in the advert so you might not apply.
  4. My last one was with Ottery as part of a "farm" insurance policy.
  5. I am looking for another load of WRC. Must be suitable for milling up. Min 10" tops (pref 12" or more on shorter bits) Max 6m Min 3m (but not all of it in 3m lengths as it puts the cost of milling up) Pref delivered but poss can get it collected if the price is right. Must be local ish to Pwllheli (if you dont know where that is you are to far away) Needed soon. Cheers
  6. Ha Ha try that at my local dealer & you get told I dont need to sell them any cheaper, as I am the only dealer for miles. I drove out of area & saved £70. Even if I lost the income for the travel time I would still have been better off. As it was I did it whilst taking the OH to the next town. Double bonus. Cheaper saw & brownie points.
  7. How much do that sell for?
  8. Cut what off exactly? LOL
  9. Thanks Rupe. That explains it.
  10. I guess the issue is that they hear about the £100-150 per day for working in Arb. So they then choose to go to college To get those numbers. Its a shock when they find out that they also need to be time served & have some real world experience to go with the college courses.
  11. Thats what I was thinking. Everyone seems to split their logs much larger than we do ours. I guess as we have a Rayburn & a small 5kw stove we split to suit them.
  12. I used to use my 250cc 2wd to pull a caravan chassis trailer full of about 1500kg of timber out of my wood through a boggy field & the mile back to base (off road). If you have enough weight on the drive wheels it will keep going. On the exit point of the woods it would be on its back wheel only as I put the power in. Other times I just used to load the front & rear racks with about 300kg (but no side slopes or you will tip). Again as long as the weight was mainly over the back wheels with just enough on the front to keep it down it would pull fine even in & out of our drainage ditches & boggy bits. At this point it would be best to tell you that I used to own a quad hire centre & used to live on them so could make a 2wd do what most would get a 4wd stuck in. As in most things the most important bit is the nut holding the controls. With a 400cc plus 4wd & a proper off road articulated axle trailer you could pull far more than the makers recommend. The limiting factor is the terrain (and driver), fit a winch & they are un stoppable.
  13. Yes it does have a right up but as both say One is fast cutting & one high performance (is that not the same thing?) One has a wider cc range than the other. Both have the same bar size range But it does not really say which to use when. Which is why I asked.
  14. They are now virtually the same & by 2012 will be the same.
  15. Should have requoted on teh spot. As a % how much extra is the £100 you want & his offer of £20? How many extra man hours did it take? Explain to him that the number of extra hours even at min wage would be more than the £20 he is offering.
  16. It means a person & not an entity or group.
  17. Some one left their shovel leaning on a spindly sapling a few years ago & forgot all about it. Fast forward to today & you have a shovel 60 foot up a tree.
  18. And heaping them up wont make them an m3 either.
  19. Will you be doing a deal with say 2 or more chains inc del? The del tend to kill online chains unless you buy a few at once. Whats the dif between micro chisel & super 20 chisel?
  20. http://www.discountchainsawschains.co.uk Dont work for me Ah I see it the thread title is spelt wrong. http://www.discountchainsawchains.co.uk does work
  21. Could also be due the the type of work the car is doing?
  22. Ah I get it now.
  23. These links might help ONE TWO
  24. I dont get that. Why use a pto driven hydraulic pump when the tractor has powerful (high pressure & flow) hydraulics already? I can only guess its if you have a set up that uses LOTS of hydraulic power for diff parts all at once.
  25. Charge him (lots) for the milling. He wont want the wood then.
