  1. I think if you dig a little deeper into that story you will find it was more the large acreage (like a few hundred acres) that he had under plastic & the large number of caravans for workers (about 250 workers so thats about 60 statics). The law type sites say that for most people this is not a president & councils should not be using it as such.
  2. Looking for WRC saw logs.
  3. It could be from anywhere to here (Pwllheli). Phoning round looking for some WRC. So was hoping to get a rough idea so I can see if the road side price will be worth it with the delivery costs. Sort of set a max area to check out based on haulage costs.
  4. I thought they used to be planning free but now needed planning? I think domestic ones are ok but Agri / Arb ones need PP. Down load this pdf for details http://www.firsttunnels.co.uk/docs/Planning%20-%20A%20guide%20for%20farmers.pdf A quick google comes up with it needing it & not needing it. Even thought is a single policy each council seems to be winging it alone.
  5. I think it only works on larger stoves.
  6. Does anyone have a rough idea what haulage costs per tonne/mile? Looking at a full lorry load (18 or 27 tonner) need moving 260 ish miles (one way).
  7. I think I would charge more for getting it up those 8 steps than for the wood lol. Ideal job for barrow bags...............
  8. Thanks for that. Might be a bit far away & the transport cost be more than the wood would be worth once its here. What does shipping cost per mile per load / tonne?
  9. They also need full planning permission. Even for trailer mounted ones
  10. Bump? Still looking for a load.
  11. Does that price include delivery costs, UK VAT & Import duties?
  12. I think without tickets you will find it hard. Lots are coming out of all the training centres with reams of paper work in their folders & sadly paper work will win out over experience in this litigations society. Can you get on a training course & get the fees paid for via the job centre?
  13. So about £10 of that is for delivery. Making it closer to the £30 the other person paid.
  14. Did that include delivery?
  15. Wont you get more heat & more control by burning it? Muck heap heaters do work well but do need to be maintained.

    wet work

They are the right way round?
  17. Midden = old name for toilet
  18. As they say in IT. That sounds like an Id 10 T error Should learn to use their stove better. It has controls to slow the burn & you can put less logs on at once.
  19. Also explains the counting with 6 fingers & toes.....
  20. He works his socks off & should charge more. Er but not me OK?
  21. I have just had Kindlett's saw blade palax here for two days. Doing a lorry load resulted in .75m3 of saw dust (thats LOOSE filled in a bag not compressed solid wood). The saw blade has about a 3mm or less cut width. How wide is a chain on a processor? If its:- 4mm thats 1m3 5mm thats 1.25m3 6mm thats 1.5m3 Of lost wood & extra wear & tear on the machine & more fuel used to remove it. It is also more waste for you to get rid of if you dont have a market for "dirty" (bark, chips, sticks & chain oil) sawdust.
  22. Even taking my time into account its been well worth doing.
  23. That 6 x m3 bags is far more than we can do (with a two man team) using a chainsaw & tractor mounted hydraulic splitter. Me & my son roughly recon it would have taken us at least TWO weeks to do that much our normal way.
  24. In the end there was three of us. My lad feeding the logs in, Wyn working the machine & me sorting any jams, helping on the big logs, fueling the processor & chainsaw, taking the bags away, moving & bagging the saw dust & general dogs body. We could have done slightly more if we were not bagging the logs but not by much. The bags were moved by the 4 tonne digger on a 4 wire sling. Well within the capacity of its lift. We could have used the tractor & front loader but the turning area would have made it hard work to do so.
  25. Well two long days in the end
