  1. Poisoned by the neighbour?
  2. Just had a price reduction letter from Calor. Its now £52 plus vat (at 5%) & a small del charge.
  3. You do know that payback is a bitch?
  4. That would be a column.
  5. I bet the hats have a shelf life & an out of the box life. Say 8 to 10 years from date of manufacture or 3 to 5 years from first usage which ever date comes first. Re the main issue. I would say that PPE should be changed when the wearer is not happy with it even if that is well before its end of expected life time. However the same attitude with other consumer goods is a big problem for the world.
  6. Yet you happily use all your existing used kit They are not seconds in the traditional sense of the word. Most people would be hard pushed to see why they are in the cosmetic blemish box. I bet that most new firsts on the shelf in most stores will have more marks on them then DMM seconds just from handling. DMM have very high standards. Also most of the staff & Directors are very keen climbers so fully understand the head game that climbers go through re the kit.
  7. Check THIS out
  8. Slightly on the low side (£22 ish per cu ft) but then thick boards needed much less work to cut. I think for small amounts £30-35 per cu ft is more realistic for green oak. Might get more for well seasoned stuff.
  9. I use a high dump version at one of the jobs I do. I think thats got about 4000 hours on it. Gets a full service every year. Starts on the button, cuts well just dont let the grass get to long or it wont pick it up well. Same with wet grass ok if its short but not if its long. If the grass is long or wet I cut it & collect as much as it can. The rest gets left in rows that I will then go over again the next day & it hoovers it all up. One of my jobs this week is to repair the deck as it has rotted through in a few places. Mainly due to the owner putting it away covered in wet grass for the past few years. Clean it down after each use.
  10. No its a whale blubber cutter.....
  11. There is for the customer. Just like there is for most consumer goods & services. Why would they be happy paying for your lifestyle choices?
  12. Same reason as why everyone wants kiln dried hard wood. The wood stove / pizza oven supplier said to only use that for fuel.
  13. If your having problems with the balance or weight you can remove the drum first. Most are only held on by a retaining clip.
  14. There is a new way to cut firewood check it out HERE (disclamer graphic images of injury) Do you think it will catch on?
  15. The last time I needed to buy strimmer cable the choices were very limited. Standard round or some square with ali powdered in it. Now there seems to be a plethora of plastic types, more profiles than you can shake a stick at (star, square, round, lumpy, twisty ect) & some made with an outer & inner core both made of different plastics with differing properties. So what do you all use? Cheap & cheerful & lots of it or better quality & it lasts longer? If it makes any difference it will be for mixed use, grass, weeds, brambles on rough ground & neat grass around mown lawn edges & trees / plants.
  16. Ah yes I forgot the O licence. There are prob other regs to follow too.
  17. You can you just have to use white diesel & make sure the tax / insurance is valid for that usage.
  18. Actually its already in force for professional drivers.
  19. Typical
  20. I have found a possible supply about 30 miles away but its roadside only as they only have a tractor based 7 tonne ish trailer. Any suggestions on local self drive logging lorry owners that could move a couple of loads? Also any idea what it should cost per tonne for the haulage?
  21. Hi All, I'm looking for some softwood cord (about 2 x 18 ton loads) delivered to near LL53 8EZ. Most must be under 10". Would also consider hardwood (or more than 2 loads) at the right price. Any offers or suggestions most welcome. Cheers
  22. You could get close to 25 on one of the largest IW flat bed trailers.
  23. If anyone is planning on doing something like this under the forestry PD rights then remember that you are only allowed a maximum of 10' internal height so loft bedrooms & high vaulted ceilings are out.
  24. You could add electro activated brakes.
  25. I doubt 25 tonnes would be enough to create the heat & pressure needed to release the lignins.
