  1. I doubt he had read the law or understood the basics, do you believe police cars cannot carry passengers because they are not insured to do so.
  2. Nothing to do with this case but relevant to the link above, a few years ago at 1am I heard a knock at the door, I went downstairs and there was a copper, he said 'your yards on fire and the fire bridge need to gain entry, we need a keyholder to attend', I said ok but you will need to give me a lift as I have had a drink, he said 'we are not insured to carry passengers you will have to make your own way' and left. My daughter gave me a lift as it happens and when we got to the yard the gate was open and the fire engine and copper was at the top of the yard, we stopped to look at what they had done to the lock on the gate and then I drove the rest of the way to the fire, about 400 yards along my own field, I had a word with the firemen as I knew most of them and the copper came up to me and said 'you told me you had a drink earlier and I want you to blow in the bag' one thing led to another and we ended up toe to toe and he was really up for it, if it hadn't been for the WPC that was with him we most certainly would have come to blows, he must have been having a bad day, he was out of order.
  3. Its good to know we are all pretty much the same opinion and the sentance was not adequate. It would be interesting to know if they have any previous for this kind of thing but at least they do now. I doubt if all of them will pay up or complete the 200 hrs.
  4. Four lads have been found guilty and the sentence is 200 hrs community service and £1100. cost's. That will not even cover the cost of replacing the trailer. The judge should be horse whipped in public.
  5. Thats a good point and the way we get around it is, we call the LPA and ask to verify if the site is within a CA (although you can do this yourself on line) or if there are any TPO's, if they ask why we want to know we simply say we have been asked to undertake a tree survey by a client. One other point to bear in mind is any site these days can have a variety of wildlife issues and I would suggest in order to cover your self you ask your client if they have had an environmental survey done, if they havent it may be they have not reached that stage in the planning proposal as yet, you can often verify this by doing a search within the LPA and this will give you a good overall appraisal of whats going on, the rest is then down to you.
  6. Dunno why but I completely miss read your post, ignore what I said.
  7. Are you sure its a 110 and not a 130, I guess the reason you want to alter the MoT is to change it from class 7 to normal.
  8. Just to update, there have four arrest's.
  9. We felled and old Sycamore last week, it was full of concrete, must have done some thing because there was no external signs that there had been a cavity and we didn't know it was there until....cutting away and then....oh b*ll*x.
  10. When the hurricane hit in 87 we found some French stuff which came in a green tub, it was much easier to apply than Arbrex but I cant remember the name. Haven't used it since then, thank god. It took ages to convince some customers we didn't use it anymore.
  11. They need to be in four sections to work efficiently, I split mine with axe, put a bit of tinder at the base push them together and tie them with a root or anything to hand, they ignite quite quickly, once alight it doesnt matter if what you tied with them burns away. I find an old filter from a lorry or tractor makes a good casing, obviously you need to remove all the paper/plastic first.
  12. My grandson and his mate sitting in the Americans truck who came 3rd, he says its worth 100k, everything has been paid for by sponsors, he won the yank version of our event so qulaified for ours, his winch was pathetic, they do need or use them over there, it was a bit of a shock for him when he had to drive through our mud 2013-08-09 17.41.24.jpg
  13. We competed in the King of the Valleys last weekend and managed a respectable 11th out of 49 trucks Home - King of the Valleys There should have been four laps of 21 miles per lap but after quite a serious incident just after the start by one of the Maltese team the first lap was abandend while the fire bridgae and air ambulance sorted the guy out. Our lap times were around 2.5 hours per lap and our truck is basically a Discovery two with a few added features so when put against the trucks which won it did extremely well, the top trucks would be worth around 100k, ours around 8k thug on rocks.jpg thug on rocks 2.jpg thug on rocks 3.jpg thug on track.jpg
  14. Loaded and ready for King of the Valleys at Walters Arena tomorrow, three days of competition with trucks from all over europe 2013-08-08 20.35.54.jpg
  15. It may not look much like a Land Rover but underneath the Thug appearance its all Land Rover running gear, axles, chassis, engine and gearbox. We are off to compete in King of the Valleys at the weekend which is two days driving through forest tracks, rocks, mud and water. It has three winches and we hope to only use the front but you never know. Theses pics were taken just as we bought it with a little bit of work to do to get her/him up to standard. I will post a few more when we get her/him out the workshop tomorrow. thug.jpg thug 2.jpg thug 3.jpg

  22. They are in 4X4 but cant quite make out what it is, its not Land Rover and no didn't capture the reg unfortunately.
  23. Telford/Newport, Shropshire.
  24. Oh no, not in the slightist:thumbup:
  25. I like it. The police have the pic's but we doubt anything will happen there, been there before and from experience the police are generally (but not always) a waste of time so best doing your own thing as far as possible. Facebook is quite possibly the best bet. I dont think they are travellers, just lads who do this for a living. Its clear there are two in charge and two just along for the ride and make up the number. The french guy and the dark lad would be up for it and stand their ground if cornered, the other two would do a runner but I doubt the one would run very far with that belly. Not meaning to be vestist or bellyist.
