  2. Nice one, its looking great Personally i would try and put a mouth on it, but when ive tried putting a mouth on something i usually wish i hadn’t. Sorry that doesn’t help much.
  3. Awesome detail in the bottom pic, well captured:001_smile:
  4. Great post. Nice work on the oak & awesome pictures. What a great day:001_smile:
  5. Height wise im not sure, circumference of the trunk was 12' 10". Would like to have some decay detection done, not sure what type, or which would give the best results? This is a major landscape tree, so felling would be the last resort; it would also open up a wind tunnel towards another declining Beech. There is no direct public access, just permitted and permissive access.
  6. Always used Stihl, never had a reason to try another brand.

    Big Oak

For the moment it will be left. Ive got work to do near it next year so may have a little tidy then.
  8. If I had’nt read Hannah’s thread Ustulina deusta and Monkeyd thread Ustulina - Nasty little Blighter I probably wouldn’t have spotted it. I was aware of the bleeding canker’s on the trunk and on the right hand buttress roots, I have since found out that these may be associated with Kretzschmaria deusta. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/video-forum/6765-ustulina-deusta.html http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/fungi-pictures/5853-ustulina-nasty-little-blighter.html
  9. Lancstree Immature fruiting bodies at 15 & 30 sec skyhuck put the tape around at breast hight and it measured 12' 10" so yes circumference:blushing:
  10. Thought id have a go at posting a vid. Cant get it to embed tho:sad: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsCHVclgPlA]YouTube - Kretzschmaria deusta on large Beech[/ame] Kretzschmaria deusta on a big Beech (12',10" dbh), sits with a slight lean just next to the rose garden:ohmy:

  14. Good effort I clear out a ditch next to a busy road once a year, always amazed at what people chuck out of cars, large bottle's of whisky are quite common.
