  2. Thats poor:ohmy:, Was looking at getting a new saw in the next few months, may have to buy sooner then:sad:
  3. So far ive used Larch, Sycamore, Oak, and Yew. More Larch than the others (quite like it for rough pieces), Oak, Yew, and Sycamore for more detailed pieces. Looking forward to trying some other woods tho. Post a pic when u finish.
  4. Got this Hornbeam in the woods, possibly one of my favorite trees on the estate.

  6. Like the Monolith Treewarrior, nice tip on on leaving them to stand for a while before sanding, have to give it a go. usually just sand straight away after carving. Get some carved danny, for some reason mushrooms always seem to sell well.

  11. Ive just got a cheap 115mm angle grinder and use velcro backed sanding discs between 40-60 grit. £25.00 for a sanded mushroom seems ok, I sell my rough cut ones for £15-20. Post some pics of that Monolith when ur done.
  12. Great mushroom:001_smile: i try ang get them as smooth as possible with the saw and then use a grinder with a corse sanding disc.

    Thanks Monkeyd, i wansnt sure if it was just one spesific thing that caused it. Shreks Wee Brother, Great find. Looks like a nice wood too. Setting fire to trees, not good:thumbdown:

  16. As Graham said, i think blunt chains are used for smoothing off, not tried it myself tho, never tried carving willow either. Have a go, n post some pics

  20. Great Carving Ive used Danish Oil, seems to bring out the grain quite well with out changing the colour of the wood to much. Keep posting the pics.
