  1. Jamaica, time to start growing some dreds!!!!! Where is micronesia? The people there must be huge!!!!!
  2. You cant control the weather, just feel sorry for you guys. Looking forward to the event in hopefully a drier future.
  3. Just so you all know it will not be for free, I will pay based on your efforts for the day starting at £65-70 for a complete just passed cs30-31 newbie. I was given a chance once upon a time and as you say its hard to get a foot in the door these days. The place has already been taken for next week but of course i shall be putting as many days up for grabs as possible. As some will know we are AA approved and feel we can offer a good experience for newbies starting off in the arb world. I hope others may follow suit with this idea but it does somewhat open me up to a whole can of special people!!!!
  4. As there are many people looking for work and to get experience i though i would put a couple of days available for a groundsman. I am not really interested in fully qualified climbers and groundsman with many years of experience as i know some great contract climbers already and have many people to call upon should i need too. Really interested to offer a few days work for guys struggling to find it and want to get a foot in the door. A chainsaw ticket is essential and must be proven before commencing any work activities, i can supply you with PPE but as long as you are the same size and build as me! Drop me a PM with a few lines of info about yourself or alternatively call me on 07730683069. The work will be in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire If there is no response by the 10am on the 9/07/12 i will call some of the old faithfuls in the my phone book!
  5. Thats amazing, what a great idea!
  6. Plenty of room for growth!
  7. To be truthful, I have put through about 60-80 tonnes so far and sharpened it once, the wood we have is very clean and the saw always cuts well. I had a circular saw/ conveyor once but I prefer the bar and chain for the twisty wood.
  8. the Dalen is a 20 inch machine, we are new (ish) to firewood also but can load the machine with our crane so it made sense to have a bigger machine. If you can make a machine work for you and it doesnt break down it doesnt matter what it does as long as it does it well. Much better than splitting and cutting by hand!
  9. It does when you feed it 20 inch pieces at 10 feet long with the 6 way splitter on!!! Its firewoodtastic!
  10. 1 cubic metre an hour? Are you sure you meant that, it does seem quite a small amount for a processor. Our Dalen 2052 does that in about 5 mins, granted smaller stuff it will take a bit longer
  11. I want to come and help but just a bit far. Maybe could of set up a BBQ, drinks table and a small arbtalk marquee!!!! Amazing show of help by all.
  12. Billets are the best but you need to have plenty of time on you hands. Im just leaving all our ash in 10' lengths for as long as poss and then processing them straight into a bag. Our Dalen takes 20" pieces so we can get through it well.
  13. I didnt even look at the prices at the arb show, i went to see Justin where i know the kit i buy will be very good, he could double the cost (i hope he doesnt) but i know if i ever have any problems they get sorted. The great thing about these shows is that you get to pick up the equipment, touch the rope and kick the treads of the shiney stump grinders and meet many like minded folk!!! Any way great show by the AA
  14. The best wood i ever had were from splitting into Billets and stacking them in a wall to dry and then cutting with a circular saw, the only thing i didnt like was how many times i handled those things!! Making a massive pile of green wood caused seasoning issues as would be expected and then again the handling of the wood back into a vehicle etc. I am going to go down the route of vented bags and loading and stacking with the skid steer as an option. I really think vented bags in a polly tunnel is the way forward!
  15. yeh a car will be no problems
  16. just been down to the site to drop off the ring and the track is already getting chewed up!!! going to be interesting tomorrow!
  17. perfect, right i will be in contact.
  18. I will cut it tomorrow and make sure its 36 all around, if not i have some beech that will definetly do. Do you want me to bring something to lift it for you as well onto the target mount/bracket/support thingy?
  19. Steve, the piece I have is just 3 feet wide if that what you would like. Can drop down on Thursday eve to you. No 8 foot pieces unfortunately!!!
  20. We had one for a while and to be fair it was a good little chipper but it sat gathering dust with us for too long. I think if you live in an urban area with tight access, poor parking and work from say a VW van and the ability to talk your clients into keeping their chip then the GM is the one to have. 99% of our work used to outrun the cs100 and it was a hindrance but on the odd little jobs it was brilliant. Horses for courses with this one, cs100 for tight jobs, for every thing else...roller feed!!!
  21. I will go and measure it today and make sure it's big enough, I know I can shift it with the tractor without tipping so it's pretty big! Will send you a pm later Steve.
  22. Think i have a piece of Pop that big in the yard that i can get down there for you.
  23. Paul..... stop giving the game away!!!! I send my clients a "hope all is well letter" but never a birthday card for a conifer hedge trim!!
  24. This thread was started in 09!! My 450 is well used now but still goes like a trooper!!! The HB20's are nice as had one on demo!
  25. Very good, these are a great way of promoting yourselves from your website for clients to see and also from an SEO point of view.
