  1. I can sharpen a chain by hand as it is a skill you have to learn and when done properly is very good, but when you are sharpening a 4 foot bar on the 880 or have 6 chains to do then the grinder is the way forward. Also i have have seen some shockers of hand sharpening that ruin chains and at the same time witnessed a badly set up grinder demolish a chain!!! If you have the room in your garage try a decent grinder, out in the field sharpen by hand.
  2. I have an oregon bench grinder, it cost a fair bit but the finish is great. If you set it up correctly and take the time then every tooth is the same, all to the correct depth and the rakers are just right. I can do the 4 foot 404 chain in 5-10 mins. the others are cheap for a reason.
  3. 6 sided DL leaflets are the ones, all your services can be listed, lots of pics, a bit about you and the company etc. They work well, if I had more time or was short of work I would leaflet all day long. I guess it depends on your area but for me they kick started my business big time. Just make them stand out and easy to read, they are easy to make and design.
  4. I did my tech cert online 3 years ago, i felt like one of the lost children of Myerscough as they took forever to get back to you!!!!
  5. nothing beats a good impulse buy, i happen to be quite good at it myself!!!!
  6. Its mean to be £650 on ebay but £600 to an arbtalker as it were.
  7. My Quad and snow plow plus timber trailer are in the classifieds at the moment, here is the ebay link but the Arbtalk price is cheaper (when the mods change it for me)!. Call me if you want to have a chat about the machine. 07730683069 eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
  8. I have now stuck the quad and trailer on ebay and also revised the classifieds price which is cheaper than ebay if anyone is interested. Logic THT 400 Timber trailer, made for Quad and ATV's | eBay eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
  9. use the search button for leaflets and you will find a load of info and previous discussions on this. And yes they work well as long as they look good and stand out.
  10. I agree for sure, longevity of aspen is a plus point, I too have fixed a few clients saws and it 90 percent of the time it's due to old fuel in the system as its been stored for too long or mixed inconsistently.
  11. Ms200 x2, a new 260 + 361 and the hs80 all ran like a bag of it on aspen, only my brand new 880 ran well on it. Normal pump fuel works very well, for the cost of aspen and the changes you have to make to your saws it's a no brainer for most. Pump fuel works absolutely fine, there have not been any inconstancies to my knowledge since the first time I picked up a saw! Maybe in the long run, but that's a long long run!
  12. Aspen only works well with new saws as the diaphrams harden up with thier fuel. It will be a case as Rob said of repairing the carbs. My ms200 did this, i just stuck it straight back on normal fuel and used the aspen for assisting my bonfire!!!! lol
  13. I used to, barclays only gave me 18 months free so..... i tried to find a better solution as 1 cheque is approximately £1.10 to process!!!! But back to the thread context, card payments happen quickly!
  14. The credit card machine costs are actually the same as my quaterly bank charges for the cheques i was putting in to the bank. some of the machines are outrageous in price especially from the banks and a few other suppliers but i managed to find one that was equal in my banking costs.
  15. I stand in front of my clients with a credit card machine... they have no excuses then. 99% will pay you instantly that way and its straight in the bank.
  16. Did this ever happen, did you build any successful tipping bodies?
  17. Get a Binderberger, it will possibly last longer!!!
  18. I process straight into the shed and let it sit there for how ever long it needs to be. when a client orders wood, pull up the trailer and load with the tractor easy!
  19. I build up a tab at the local pub by delivering logs to them, if we are passing i then drop in with the boys for a drink and food etc. Always reward good work and invoice them when they break stuff!!!! lol
  20. I maybe selling my greenmech CS100 18hp model over the next week or so if anyone is interested then drop me a pm. I will be sticking an advert in the classifieds shortly when i have realy made my mind up. Such a handy chipper.
  21. Just in case any body is looking to buy!!! Road Registered Yamaha Grizzly 450 irs Quad, Winch, Snow Plow and Logic Timber Trailer ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  22. Marshall Engineering now own it chap, i traded it in instead. Great bit of kit though.

  23. lol also its a 2054 not a 2045 but actually looks like a 2052 anyway!!!!! Location is Uk, wierd though as there are so many feedbacks, normally there are on the isle of sky with 0 feedback! something not right on both angles!
  24. oh really, my bad if it is. I saw the 227 actions with 100% feedback. They seem to sell many different things from shoes to mud terrains! this could be one of those rare ebay moments!
  25. This is a bargain for someone, frustratingly i have just bought a new one but this is a bargain for £2600 as the buy it now. they have enough feedback to no be a scam so........ some one on here could do well. great machine. Dalen Firewood Processor cutter chipper | eBay
