  1. Shut downs are easy to organise and free. They take a while to arrange but it will save you the hassle of worrying about the wires and possibly killing yourself. The fines are also huge if your short out the wires.
  2. Yes, did you not spot him at the start cutting the bits of Beech. Thank you for all your comments, i always try and work smart on our sites, no one should need to break their backs lifting. We also reduced 3 other trees and took that one down in one day. Its did involve a full road closure and big diversion and also a powerline shutdown and lines removal. It took a huge amount of planning but came good at the end.
  3. Thanks all, the tractor is not mine but we contract in a local guy on big jobs, its so much easier as he can take huge pieces away. A song really makes a video, its funny how if i cahnge to sound track how the dynamics of the video change. Groove Armarda track seemed to work really well.
  4. If you look carefully, the little yellow helmet is Dan!!!!! Amazed by everything!!!!
  5. With ours we tend to have turning points, i.e. wooden boards on corners. If you dont use them and spin on the spot, you can destroy gardens in seconds!!!! The best thing i like about the skid steers, is cleaning up!!! scrape every thing into a pile, and grab it!!!! its so very quick.
  6. This is a little vid i put together on sunday, had been meaning to make a little promo vid for a while as i have so much footage from this year. Hope you like. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkPaIVofPKU]Theocus Arb Ltd - YouTube[/ame]
  7. Here is a little vid of some tree work the other day. You can see just how useful the skiddy is in the vid. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkPaIVofPKU]Theocus Arb Ltd - YouTube[/ame]
  8. No pics of the winch as yet, will get some for you at some point. Weve got a big crane dismantle this weekend so the skiddy will be out saving backs again this weekend, it does make jobs that much more enjoyable!!!!
  9. The log grab for the boxer isnt that great by the looks of it, the best is the grab bucket for brash and logs. Boxers are like hens teeth but if you keep on at Cliff he will find you one. Feel free if your ever passing to come and have a play on mine in the yard!!!
  10. On a site, i reckon my Boxer 427 does the work of 3 men easily, ive used it in woodland on fellings to stack 10 foot lengths upto 2 feet in diameter, we have done large tree dismantles and it just makes life sooooo much easier. 13k is a bit but i thought that at first, but i would never sell mine now. Have a look at the Vermeer SC range, now they are expensive!!!!!! The attachments you can get for it also are vast, if your into landscaping it must be an even better asset.
  11. Boxer skidsteer, we have one and its worth its weight in gold. You should look at the 322 ( i think) or 325 diesel. Will fit in the landy for sure.
  12. Buy a BC1000 and never sned again Sam!!!!
  13. Ahh yes but your working in cheltenham where your competitors are pricing 450 -500 a day. Still too cheap for a two man team, regardless of size of truck etc you can still afford to put your rate up there.
  14. I phoned a dealer today and got quoted £16.80 per 5 litres, a discount to £15 for 15 containers or more. Not sure if this is good or not.
  15. They call all the time, i had one today who said he could get me on the first page of google and a high ranked listing, i said great, what is your company name he said the company, i typed in Google SEO experts into Google and low and behold their company wasnt the top ranking. I said if you cant get your self on the first page you can stuff it if your going to get me to pay you!!!! You can get yourself easily on the first page by getting an account with google and some basic SEO etc. Dont be conned guys but at least play with them when the do call!!!!
  16. And as they do buy alot from Riko and Riko sell that processor i guess it is legit!
  17. Ive bought form R&R Civils before, they are tree surgeons and firewood merchants. They are good guys, not sure how the account would of been hacked but i had no issues from them before.
  18. The 7015 is a good machine, i too have derailed a couple but its just due to poorly tentioned tracks. Always had stacks of power and fantastic on steep inclines. Get one with remote control if your going to buy one!
  19. I have actually only sharpened my chain 3 times in year or so i have owned it. We dont use it every day but the wood going through it is clean and should be free of nails etc. As for the twig on the processor its a Theocus team secret!!! Lol No i have a Riko Fast Tow trialer and use the crane to load the trailer sideways and by chance its the same height as the processor. Big ones i crane straight in, The less i pick up pieces of wood the better!
  20. This processor doesnt cost 50,000 and deals with Arb waste and wood upto 50cm in diameter!!
  21. Not to derail but this story is great if your dissing the G wagon!!!! I have been out welding my landrover this evening, dont give up they just keep going. BBC News - Gunther Holtorf's 23-year road trip
  22. Just hire one of these and save you back, we use alpine magnums where clients want minimal damage, access is poor and the stumps awkward. Easy to use and better than digging or burning etc etc Alpine Magnum Portable Stump Grinders and Trenchers
  23. Once upon a time, i created an xl spreadsheet that worked out this for you based on estimations per tonne and then eventually profit etc. It was fairly basic but with the right input formulas you can see if its worth doing. My biggest concern and hence the reason for the spreadsheet was do i buy in wood or fell our own so it was all against labour costs. And then having to work out the small splitter verses processor. I think the outcome was that if i didnt achieve 1.5 bags of 1m/3 per tonne from bought wood at a 50 per tonne plus delivery at 18 per tonne ( i had been quoted this) then it was not sustainable. The only profit made was purely on delivery charged for that method! This is based on the our local going rate per bag so obviously it may differ nationally. I could try and dig out the spreadsheet and tweak it to suit this topic but that would be a little geeky.
  24. These could be them!!! Recycling Bags | Recycle | Garden Waste Bags | Garden Bags | LBK Packaging
  25. There are quite a few threads on this topic if you search. A good product thats worht recomending and word of mouth is the best advert you will ever need!
