  1. I started my business in a recession and i havent had a day off for the last 9 months so far!!!! Use common sense, look professional and be picky and clever how you advertise. Learn how to SEO your website too!!!!!!
  2. I just washed mine out with washing up liquid then dried it out and stored it with a couple of toilet roll tubes in it to let it dry properly. Seems to work and i filled mine with Port for a skiing challenge!!!!
  3. Here are some pics of it in use, i had the truck that day but its obviously works better behind the quad. It was only designed to take out logs of 12-15 inches but i could build a bigger one if needed.
  4. I made one for about £200, quad wheels and hubs off ebay, i even bout a half tonne electric winch for it. I will put some pics up later for you to see. I think they are fairly expensive to buy a commercially built one. If you have a friend who can wield then just get the parts and give him a hand, I couldnt wield until i built my tipper back, log arch, saw horse, log splitter and hiab!!!!!
  5. Personally i wouldnt, it might be okay for small bits but gravity fed chippers and commercial arb is unpractable. I bought a vermeer 620 on ebay for £2000, kept it for 6 months to start myu business and sold it for £2000. If your not in a hurry, wait for a roller feed chipper that you can resell should you need too. Anyway thats my opinion i am sure others will contribute.
  6. Big boss beechwood, was that your green landy i saw in the car park? very smart!
  7. Apologies if the owner is on arbtalk but my word what an eye catching truck.......... I think!!!!!! Could do with a land line number me thinks!
  8. Double balls and balls again, i am not going to make it yet, am in the process of joining the retained firefighters in Tewkesbury and have a days induction now on the saturday. I apologize for my absence but will be there on the next one for sure.
  9. Stihl ms361, awesome!
  10. Hi Dave, Im also Dave, i am based in Gloucestershire where i run my own business Theocus Arboriculture. I jokingly put on your big or large thread i would come and give you a hand if you needed. To be honest i have a quiet week next week ( 4 unfilled days) and was thinking of heading to st just to see my old dear and some friends. If you per chance need an extra well qualified pair of hands let me know!

    Regards

  11. I think there are a few threads already on this, type in leafleting, yellow pages, advertising etc into search and ypu will get loads of info.
  12. Purely for demonstration purposes only!!!!
  13. Well if you need a hand taking it down let me know, i need to see my old dear in St Just once in a while and go for a surf in Sennen too!!!!
  14. They wanted me to name a price per tonne, i couldnt supply that if i tried so i passed them onto a few friends etc. Dont want to blunt my axe chopping that much wood now do i!!!!!!
  15. I feel wrong, was tempted with the female motorbike courier though!!!!!!!
  16. yikes, i had a call from CPL the other day for 2500 tonnes of wood!!!!! Wanted it all split too!!!!!
  17. Got anything smaller!!!!!!! I will be there with my groundie ( will bring a branch for him to pull around for the day!!!) and my good lady who is keen to climb, i fear she might be better than me!!!! Will bring some food for the bbq and hopefully some freshly unwrapped bling from the AA to climb with!!!! See you all there. Can we get vehicles fairly close?
  18. Wicked, 11th is on then. Would it be an idea to start a new thread as an invite to anyone etc etc on here. I will call a few friends to come along and take part too.
  19. I have been known to dabble, would never take the grinder to the beach though!!!!!!!!
  20. The 11th it is!!!!, Lets just do it, i have no idea what i want at the arb fair but as long as i can polish it and on occasion use it for work all is good, and i will definetly bring it along!!!! I think we need to set a date, It then allows John to make the arrangements etc and gives all time to take time off.
  21. I gave danequip a call, seemed realluy helpful but nothing second hand, only new and shiney. in the end i bought a predator 450 for under £7000 all in so happy with that. Just need to enthuse my groundie about the joys of stump grinding!!!!!
  22. How about we meet after the AA show as i can then try out all the new shiny bits i bought at the show and also there could be somebody to show me how the new must have piece of kit that i shall no doubt be conned into buying works!!!! We could have a comp to see how far you can zip line your wife/partner!!!!! I truthfully have no preference to a date and before or after the show is great for me, how about we say Sat the 20th June, then at least we recognise each other at the show?
  23. I think the clutches were bad on the tracked versions but the pedestrian one are okay, i need to find a grinder pretty quick so if anyone is reading this!!!! lol
  24. Hi chap i am in the same boat as you at the mo, i need a grinder but have a similar budget. I am looking at a Predator 450 which i know there is one with a bout 10 hrs on for 6300 from predator in Reading. I also looked at the Raycos and Caltons but fairly dear. I figure stump grinders only get sold because they are fairly knackered. I have used the predator a few time and i have to say its been really good.
  25. What about the predator 450? I have used these before and were really good especially with the multi tip.
