  1. Yes mr shrek I even made a point to talk to you!!!! Just asked if you were next to climb, I was stood watching in the red jacket with theocus on!!!! Lol I have got a few more pics from the day I will put up too.
  2. If you guys didnt see them at the ARb Fair but Boomeco also collect, i have been dealing with them and recieved £13 a tonne against AHS's £10.00!!
  3. A few pics of the winner!!!
  4. Hi Steve, count me in, stacks of hardwood logs ready to go in the yard as i type. I can cover Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and some of the Cotswolds. Actually most of the midlands, south border.
  5. It would be interesting to see the volume of students progressing into the industry and others that dont. It is the classic statement us aged/older types say "if i knew then what i know now i would do this differently" etc etc. It is frustrating and at the same time difficult to steer people in the right direction and give them a chance. College can be (not always) the easy option to take but just look at the amount of unemployed grads at the moment. Its all about tickets and experience, now is the golden age where smaller scale employers are willing to take on a slightly less experienced people who may cost less to pay as an extra groundy if they are willing to put in as it were! Experience is there to be had but they must make the first steps and arrive with the correct attitude. I took on my groundy with good faith with his college course etc, but this week in addition to his year course we will be learning the running bowline and why even the smallest branches should be lowered using the portawrap and not your bare hands followed by first aid for minor burns!!!!!!!
  6. I asked my chap what he wants to do professionally and of course he said a "Tree Surgeon" so he has enroled again into Pershore this time to do another year. I am trying to pursued him to work and learn on the job. I have even threatened to not pay him and get him an nptc ticket instead!!!! Like you said you get back what you put in, and on occasion i have to speed him up!!!! Surely there must be apprentiships from places like Morten Morrel and Pershore. I told him employers will look for experience and tickets, National Diplomas do not mean much in our industry. Did you find a new chap for your crew in the end John?
  7. I have a chap who is working with me at the moment who has done a 1 year course at Morten Morrel College. He passed all his course work etc and was sent into the big wide world to get a job. He came out of college with no nptc units at all, never used a chipper, watched a stump grinder a few times and climbed a few trees. No idea on pruning, really poor id skills and as far as hazards etc, that doesnt exist!!!! It is not his fault at all but sometimes your think it would be better to just work your way through life and learn as you go. Has anyone else sometimes thought what do they learn at college these days!!!
  8. small add in yellow pages and local advertising and a written van is best IMO. it is the best, also a topless female with your company name painted on her handing out leaflets works a treat!!!!! amazing!!! I wish!
  9. Maintenance maintenance maintenance, my 020T is used every day and its 9 years old, it is backed up by a ms200t which again is 3 years old. Only ever replaced the plugs on them and thats it. Blow the saws with a compressor every day and clear out all the snite and when they get wet and stinking, strip them apart and clean and put back together!! Its a two stroke what can go wrong!!!!
  10. That would be awesome, Use the line whilst your here could you just give me a hand with this etc etc!!! 4 hours later, one re-tiled bathroom!!
  11. To date, Yellow pages has produced 4 jobs for a £800-900 advert, just covering the cost (ish) for the advert itself but then a loss with fuel, wages etc!!! Yell.com, nothing at all!!!!! Its a very good sales pitch but as others have said people use google, spend £400 on your web site and get it SEO friendly or set an adwords budget etc!!! Waste the yell.com reps time but dont waste yours!!!!
  12. I am there on the 25,26 and 27th for the course, anyone else going to the Tree Life 3 dayer?
  13. I went to a show not so long ago and i saw business link were offering grants for sustainable woodland initiatives in certain areas. It could be worth contacting them and looking? Just a thought.
  14. I would be happy to head up as well, just let me know when.
  15. There is a little loader on ebay at the moment that would be good, type in skidsteer and see if it comes up.
  16. Well it all adds up and if they do find your saws, chipper etc with the numbers ground off at least they are identifiable and hopefully a conviction will take place etc etc. Its all about stopping them before they act. Anyone know if slightly underfeeding a soft as black labrador will make her more vicious!!!!!!!!
  17. Dont know if any body tried them on at the show, but those safe eye goggles, although a great idea didnt quite fit right as you had to have them fairly tight and in doing so the edge/seal dug into your face. the chap said they were still being delveloped so it might pay to wait a while. I saw some bug eyes is it in the sherril tree catalogue which were similar!
  18. I just want some pictures of my German Shephard getting a free meal of hoody!!!!
  19. mistyped on the last message, apologies for fat fingers!!!!
  20. Just received so am yet to set them up all the cameras and padlocks etc so i am yet to set them up. The padlocks go to 110DB and make your ears hurt and are fairly sensitive which is good. The camera and light combo needs setting up so as soon as i have i will put pics up etc. Has anyone heard of smart water, i worked again for a crime prevention officer yesterday and he has given me a few free smartwater kits which identify your saws etc just by the chemical make up of the liquid you coat on! sounds great to me.
  21. I suppose it depends on what you lock in the padlock!!!!!
  22. I have just done some work for a chap who owns a security device company and make security lights that photo graph or video when activated. I have purchased one from him along with some motion sensitive padlocks that scream very loudly when moved ( good for chippers, grinders, saws etc). I will set them all up and stick some pics up for all to see. I am sure you have seen them before but just in case. Pm me if you want some more info on them.
  23. I am on my 6th pair of stretch airs as the fly has gone on all of them, Luckily F R Jones have wicked after sales but on the new pair i have just got the fly have gone again!!! I am going to take them to a saddler/seamstress and get them made indestructible!!!!!! I feel like i am pestering F R Jones too much but obviously there is a problem some where!!
  24. My type C's are off to a seamstress/saddlers to get proper fixed!!!!! I cant keep sending them back to Jonsie. My Hi flex allow me to do the splits and big steps with a belt and never rip so i am not sure why the stretch airs are so different. It is frustrating though.
  25. I am on my 6th pair of stretch airs in less than a year, the zips just tear from the bottom, i got a replacment pair yesterday and within the hour the zip had gone. Not sure if i am walking funny!!!!!!!!! The type C's are very warm though compaired to my hi flex but they Stihls are not as robust.
