  1. I have got the biggest job since the creation of my business coming up this week over all four day. We are taking down 7 large Monteray Pines in a tight area all of which are poss 80-90 feet. I just saw the weather report for this week, rain rain and more heavy rain! Sods law as it has been so dry for so long.
  2. I have a large piece of metal waiting to be turned into a splitting head, was just going to experiment and destroy that one first. This is just a bit of fun welding etc, you will prob see it on ebay in a week or two!!!!
  3. This is my attempt so far as to building my splitter, need to make the 3 point linkage on the back and finish the hydraulics but so far so good. A small amount of animal cruelty for amusement also!!!
  4. I have gone a little quiet again but not really worried as have allot of estate work to do over the next month etc. I did have a period where my phone didnt stop so you can never tell!!! We must one day meet for a beer and chat face to face.

    Regards

    David

  5. Good to see you the other day, Maybe one day you will catch us near a tree and not doing the gardening!!!

If you ever need a hand/climber etc give me a shout.

  6. um er its yellow, thats cool yellows good! lol
  7. I use the air streams and they are awesome boots, although mine have wet patches externally just beside the front lase eye either side. I guess its moisture being pulled out of the boot but i can only imagine over time it may affect the material. Anyone elses do this or do i have really hot feet!!!
  8. That was me!! I did see you boys come past but amongst falling over and trying not to drop a saw i did try and wave!

    You guys well and busy?

  9. Military MAN lorries, one day someone will convert it to a chip truck! Note the machine gun for extra security and long range felling!!!!
  10. Talking of forgetting things, i have just come back from Gatcombe horse trial (watching the missus) and a lady there drove all the way to the show only to realise she had left her horse tied up at home!!!! Spat my tea everywhere when i heard her talking to the judges earlier!!!!
  11. Mate your a legend, cracking ideas yet again, its all about thinking outside of the box.
  12. Some very good ideas, cheers for that.
  13. Some input would be appreciated here guys. In a month or so i am heading to a small country fair and taking my business there to allow people to see who i am, what i do, hand out flyers etc etc. Approx 2-3000 people are expected throughout the day from my local area. I take some trees from a local nursery, local arb hire chap etc etc. But this time the managers of the show want me to do a demo in the main arena of which i am in 2 minds, firstly it would be great PR but secondly what the hell would/could i do? Cross cutting wood? Talk about trees, Our industry, wear a Borat thong and run around with a MS880? Any ideas or should i just say no thanks!!!!!
  14. Only an iveco 35, but we were fairly loaded and on a hill. Didnt struggle to much to be fair. Goes well when the turbo kicks in!!!!
  15. True true, i should checked to be fair but then should i need too? Also i didnt lose my temper as i had done the same when i was much younger to someone elses chipper. It happens but so frustrating and even more annoying when its your chipper. I think it is going to be a stealth rugby tackle into the woodchip pile, quickly beat him then run like the wind itself!!!! I weigh 12 stone, he is 18-19 stone!!!!!
  16. 3 weeks ago i received my new Timberwolf 150 dbh, new toy big smiles etc etc. Yesterday my groundman/friend hitched it to the back of my truck and left the handbrake on. He then drove 6 miles to our base, needless to say there were boiling hubs and the smell of burning brake drums. Some days i just dis pare that i have to check everything anyone does for me! I cant even beat him as he is twice the size of me!!!!! Good dragger though. Any rant over, i am guessing new pads, hopefully not new drums and the shock absorber is prob shot. Anyone else had this kind of a mess up before?
  17. On a more sinister note, do you work weekends, ie are you near your yard on the weekend so we can have a look about etc!! Could of been someone probing. I am always suspicious of calls like that. Not trying to make you paranoid!
  18. remember they are not allowed to climb these trees so they use the shear on a 360 digger
  19. Hey Rupe, i can pass you a few guys details should you need, and if your really stuck i will cut wood for cash!!! Only in Tewkesbury.
  20. I have been slack with the pictures, these are 2 i took from the road today, at first i thought it may of been done a one of the house owners but in fact it is part of the row that has been shearollarded!!!!! I am also not sure of the agreement between the landowner and the EA but shocking neither the less.
  21. Hopefully we are allowed to camp, i went to the APF last year and you were not allowed to there. As you say it would ruin it if you couldnt camp out. I like the idea of the T shirts, maybe with the arbtalk winning caption on for example. Surely we could muster a banner for the middle of the village somewhere!!!!
  22. I am up for the Arbtalk village, camped at the show last year, its amazing how much you can spend still pissed!!!!! Too many shiney things to buy, and justification is so much easier hung over! The village must be built, and Steve should bring a banner!!!!!
  23. Demo for a week, what a great idea, good for your decision making and great for there advertising and credentials!!!!! I wait with baited breath!
  24. You can learn a lot from Home alone 1 with all the booby traps! I bought a very expensive steel core super chain, sheathed thing to keep my trailer located in my county. Yesterday my groundie snapped the key off in the lock, now i cant use the bloody thing. I was sold on the fact that you could only cut through it with hydraulic shears|!!!!! Balls!
  25. Think outside the box all the time!
