  3. Right where did i put my hammer and polish, looks like i am going to have to fix this one for wed!!!!! lol
  4. Those mesh guards are wicked and look great too. They are also very good for solid barriers for paths etc. Ply board is too heavy and look a little... well.... unprofessional in my opinion! HOPEFULLY WHEN I CALL ON MONDAY THE GREATLY WONDERFUL GUARD SELLING JONESIE MAY TAKE PITY ON ME AND OFFER A WONDERFUL DEAL!!!! I MIGHT EVEN BUY TOO IF HE DOES!!!! LOL Its worth a try!
  5. It was close for sure, but it was against a newly painted white picket fence and then a BMW on the otherside on the road! It kicked up slightly on a stone and caught the mesh, stopped the grinder pretty quick though!! I would normally put them at a safer distance but really it was the only option today and unfortunately it was a costly option, but yes it was apparently "too close"!!!!! lol
  6. Stump grinder versus guard, got a bit close to it this morning and i would expect a call on monday for a few more panels!!!!! doh!
  7. Well let me know how you would price it etc, i am still looking for a chipper!
  8. Yep, i have used AHS once before for chip removal, but i wanted to see how the costing adds up and whether its viable to hire a big chipper then sell it etc! For the ease of operation and mucking about it may be better to get a company like AHS to come in and do it for nothing.
  9. I have a job to take down 45 Poplars in two weeks, the client has changed there minds and now wants me to remove everything from the estate. Its pop and doesnt have a use to me except in the form of chip, i am based in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire, so if anyone on here has a Heizohak or similar give me a call, 07730683069. It will all be in my yard so there is no time limit on it i just dont want it sat getting in my way!!!!! Or if there are any other uses you may have for it, totum poles, caber poles, you own a match stick making facility etc etc!!!
  10. There is one in our local pub garden, its a fair size and the bark screams Malus at you but again the berries and the leaf threw me too! Glad i am not the only one who cant id the thing!
  11. Has anyone used one of the oxdale log splitters? There was an ad in the forestry journal this month. Seem cheap enough for a mobile petrol splitter at £1270.00 or something like that.
  12. Hey all, I have just sat the exam for the Tech Cert management day, how did anyone else find it and maybe we could shed some light on the matter for some of the people learning for it next year? So, Tree condition report around the pond! BS5837 survey, who did what with the Lawsons Cypress!!! The woodland survey, who spotted the badgers set? And the tree ident? Easy or a few curve balls?
  13. Have you found a retail outlet for the lowering device yet reg? I have a job just perfect for this coming up and cant wait to get my hands on one!!!

    iphone apps

get the shotgun app, and also 3d hunting!!! you will spend all day shooting deer!!! wicked!!!
  16. This is my set up, wicked as you can go anywhere especially collecting firewood!!! I have cleaned it since.
  17. I did see that one advertised, i gave davies implements a call and hopefully they have a hakki pilke 1x 37 coming in so i am going to see what that is like. I had a measure around my log pile and only a few bigger pieces are over 37 cm so it seems a goodd machine. You all have them by the looks of it anyway!!!!!! My groundy broke my log splitter yesterday, so out comes the welder again today!!!
  18. Hey all, i have a 25 inch mill but i think i might need a slightly bigger one!! The Yew is about 9 foot long and the Walnut is 10 foot, the other bits of walnut vary in length. We took them down the other day so are leaving them to dry a little!!!! Cant wait to see what to make with them.
  19. There is a Hakki Pilke 37 on ebay right now for 6600, its worth a thought i suppose, what is the easy specification? I still like the idea of the Dalen just on the size etc, has anyone used the Japa style processors from fuelwood?
  20. It would appear to be standard with no frills!!! I am sure if i would to start uming and arghing it might gain a few extras!!! If i know a Dalen will last say 5-10 years with moderate to minor useage then i can see it being a benefit etc. I didnt think there would be many processors on the market at the moment, its just as i am getting daily orders for logs now i havent got enough time to use the smaller tractor splitter make them all up and climb etc. I need a chap whos loves splitting wood!!!
  21. Morning all, What are peoples thoughts buying new against second hand on equipment such as processors etc? I am looking at the Dalen 2054 due to its 44cm capabilities as all of my wood is from tree work and not bought in nice and straight etc! But and it is a but, £14500 is a serious cost for a new processor for my business. It will obviously start making money in a sense the moment it arrives but as for life span etc i am not sure. Anyone know of second hand processors about, i have looked on the usual channels, earborist, plant trader, ebay etc etc etc. Firewood as i am sure it is everywhere is starting to go crazy, and my over the summer efforts have been destroyed in the last month!!!!!
  22. I was just about to post something similar, just had a call from a client regarding his Tilia and he described it as cling film wrapped!!!! Turns out the small the orange bits are what i believe to be mites as they are clearly living. Its a great display of micro organisms!!!
  23. Can we buy one of these yet?
  24. 700 to 800 for a navara + Iveco daily for anyone over 25 and 1 younger named driver!
  25. Screwfix!!! I got mine from there and they were cheap like the budgey!
