It ag registered so can use it on the road for a limited distance, but mainly for firewood abstraction etc. Does anyone on here know of a good company? 3. Hi John

It all depends i suppose on what your going to mill. The 48 inch bar is massive and will mill anything, but to be fair its possibly too big. I will get a 36 inch bar at first, and you can always get the extenders for the mill should you want to go bigger. The 460 with the 25 bar is good for smaller stuff but not really great for overall.

I bought my 880 form listers in Ciren for £820 i think just last month. They also price match as well so go in with a fr jones cataloge!!!!

Anyway let me know if you want to come and have a play, got a good bit of walnut that needs planking.

  4. Hi John

Just read your post about the alaskan mill. I have one for my 880 with a 48 inch bar on it. I also have it to fit the 460 with a 25 inch bar, both have ripping chains. If you want to come and have a play in the yard one day to see how you get on let me know.

  9. I use the predator 450 and that is awesome with the multitip teeth, we have done everything from small softwood stumps in second to the largest being a 6-7 feet wide holm oak stump. They fit through gates and doorways, self propelled and 25 hp kohler engine. Loads of grunt.

  15. I have an app called Road trip, i input the data at every fill up. Its enough to make you cry!
  16. Right, i had one of these as my first chipper and mine did exactly the same. There is a woodruff key between the hydraulic motor and the infeed roller. this should be coupled by a chain link thingy!! Inside of there is the woodruff key, if you have had alot of wear then this starts to move and eventually falls out and sits inside the coupling. When i contacted Vermeer to get a new infeed roller, there were no new ones in England and one in America!! Remove the hydraulic motor by undoing the large nut above it and remove the two metal guards. Detach the coupling and look to see if one the hydraulic motor is still spinning and two where the woodruff key has gone! Its a 2 inch long square bar, there is also a half moon one too on the hydraulic side. If this the case as was mine of excessive wear, i took mine to a machinist who routed another groove in for me. Anyway good luck
