  1. I see before you've mentioned that you've spent some time inside, would you mind if I asked what you were accused of?
  2. What we're after is a solution. We want supervision for kit and the knowledge that someone will be there if unsavoury people come calling. Advertise your yards and workshops as a local meeting spot for cottaging. Charge them 10 quid per car. No self respecting thief is going to want to stick around while that's going on and you'll be keeping politicians off the street and out of parks. Win win.
  3. Judging by a lot of the people I've encountered? No.
  4. I think Skyhuck is still climbing on a Mk1. I've seen a few of these with cracks, to be fair, its very unlikely the crack would be fatal but I know Petzl are very quick to replace.
  5. Take your pick really, I find it hard going when every thread quickly gets derailed, people start conversations in the middle of threads that could be easily done over PM or a phone call. People starting a thread instead of searching for things. It goes on and on. Maybe I've just been on her for nearly 8 years and seen it all before. Hard to keep positive I guess and that leads to less posts
  6. I'll be the one who asks..... Wouldn't it have straight felled?
  7. I find tapping a message out in morse code on his back gets a response
  8. Sad to hear this mate, on the plus side, it'll make rec climbing sweeter! X
  9. Ha ha! Not at all mate! It's interesting to me to see what people in Internet land think timber is worth compared to people actually willing to pay it!
  10. How much is this worth then? 66 sitting on stump
  11. I took a huge Yew down on Saturday. Absolute whopper. Customer wants to sell the wood. Everyone will tell you the wood is worth a fortune but more often than not, they're not the ones buying!
  12. I know. But the operating principles of how they work are the same! You'd have a nightmare trying to use a Grillon as a belay device!
  13. This. There is a child living in Wales that I know pretty much every detail of its life and I've never met her. Facebook updates at a rate of two or three a day about ridiculous things. There is no way I would want millions of photos of my daughter on the Internet and don't agree with parents who put loads and loads of pictures online where anyone could get them
  14. They are essentially the same thing. Grillon is a closed system that is screwed together, gri gri opens and is contained on the crab. Principles are the same
  15. Realistically, a gri gri is what you want. There isn't any training specifically for training kids etc. In the event of something going wrong, the questions to be asked would be are you competent to do what you were doing? (Cs38 minimum) is the kit suitable (LOLER and inspection records etc From my experience, you'll want to get some smaller rock climbing harnesses as well Just how I would approach it.
  16. Wouldn't have thought so. You'd be able to say you had adequate training for the job in hand.
  17. I love SRT is a decent enough one.
  18. Fair enough. I would get on Facebook groups etc and put some posts up as I know a few people bought the BDB and are looking to sell. Worth a go!
  19. Why not just get one from Treestuff?
  20. No need for me to go to the shed now! No worries mate
  21. Kit is in the shed but I'll grab one tomorrow
