I think £60 / day but when he gets more experienced put it up to £70 then £80. Makes him feel valued then and that he has progressed. As for PPE, buy him his first lot but tell him the prices and that if he damages them (other than general wear and tear) he will have to pay for replacement gear!

Fell and replant a new tree somewhere else in the garden! Tree is way too close to the new house and severing half its roots hasn't done the tree any favours !

The ND is 50:50 practical:theory but the FdSc is totally practical. If you dont have any experience/prior tree knowledge then I would recommend the ND as it covers all the basics!

That stump grinding head looks ok to me - I think it would depend on how much stump grinding you do though whether it is more cost effective to have a seperate machine. If you have lots of attachments for one machine, when it breaks you could have to delay a lot of jobs / lose money. IMO the Boxer / other Skid Steers come into their own when moving material and loading trailers etc.
