  9. I know that people prefer different chippers etc etc but has any used the abover chipper? any good points/ bad points? Local Authourity I work with are looking at getting one for the Countryside Team to use so wont get huge amounts of use. Only concern I've got is that there is no stress feed - does that make it a pain when chipping larger stuff/material with lots of leaves on? Cheers in advance!

  11. Have just been given the job of mapping and surveying all the old/veteran trees on one of the Nature Reserves I help manage so any pointers/help welcome Is there a specific survey form for using on veteran trees? Has anyone created woodland walks with veteran trees as focal points? Did they work? Cheers in advance Laurence
  12. Any pile of logs/brash will be used by invetebrates/small mammals. If its in a school you could try and make it more interesting by putting the logs at different angles/half buried into the ground.....almost making a piece of art aswell as a log pile.

  17. I use a Kawasaki klf300 at work and is good for the things we use it for . Considering getting a UTV aswell....any one had any experience with these?
  18. A friend has got a fairly large apple tree that split last Autumn due to the weight of the fruit and the branch is now resting on the tree house . Removal of the split branch is not an option as it is fairly structural and you would loose half of the crown. I have recommended that they reduce the branch to decrease some of the weight but also to prop the branch up so that its not resting of the tree house. Is this the most appriopriate solution? What is the best way to prop up a branch/how do you create the prop? Any comments/advice welcome
