  1. I have a large area of Gorse to clear of varying ages/heights. It is on a SSSI heathland so all the materail has to be taken off site. Has anyone got any suggestions to go about this? I have already thought of: - Chainsaw then chip - Chainsaw then burn - Forest mulcher and then use a digger to scrape off all the arisings etc (would this work? Does anyone else have any experience thoughts on how to go about this horrible task?? Cheers in advance Parker
  2. After having two of the containers at work broken into I would be wary of storing expensive kit in them without improving the security! Like others have said just reverse the chipper into the container so the wheels are over the lip and then push it from there.
  3. Makes it worth while working on a Saturday when you have a customer like that! Nice job btw:thumbup1:
  4. You may be surprised how much the insurance on the vauxhall combo van is....i've got a 1.3 diesel and nearly had a heart attack when they told me. Good little vans though!
  5. Maybe we should start another topic on the ethics of our profession and how it affects the climate! On a more serious note - nice kit and another job well done Flaming Ace (regardless of whether the tree needed to come down or not!)
  6. Ive done some work on the trees at the Longstock Park - cracking trees!
  7. If your in Hampshire then try the Hilliers Nursey as its local.
  8. Tree work is for professionals - as it has been shown in T14EES T14UNK's latest thread!! I'm sure someone on here will be willing to come give you a quote if you put up ur postcode/address.
  9. Fantastic videos - thanks for sharing!
  10. I agree with Andy and SWB - its got to the right machine for the job. If you can convince the customer to keep the chip then you are saving money by getting the job done quicker as it reduces the amount of time you waste dragging brash to the chipper but it also reduces the amount of fuel you are using because you are not traveling back to your yard/tip site with a full load of chip/towing a chipper which uses more fuel!
  11. If you are based in Winchester then consider the Foundation Degree in Arb at Sparsholt College. Its a good college and the course seems ok so far.
  12. Is it worth spending all that money though if you are only getting 2-3 more years out of the trees life...and then have to spend even more money taking it down? IMO it would be a lot better to fell and replant.
  13. The whole crown is like that and several of the other Oaks in the same area.
  14. Cheers for that - will have a look through!

  20. Thats a lot of paper work and box ticking! I can see why a big company with lots of employees needs to do it but not a small team that only run 1 vehicle and a couple of saws! Have fun working through that lot dean!
