  1. Cheers Adam
  2. Cheers tom and steve A fair bit big j, i had an idea about loading containers up with elm and oak and shipping them to the uk mills but that idea never took off, no one wanted to give me an idea of price they'd offer so couldn't figure out if it would be worth it
  3. Had some fun with this old girl today. Dutch elm disease. Had a 6 story underground library archive under the tree, so had to be a bit careful with the size of chogs. Decorative stone work around (as seen in last pic) and a few up lighters to avoid. Not my job, Just hired in. Less than 2 hours later time for a water break, 34c... 88 with a 4ft bar... Got a timelapse filmed, will add to the thread when I've edited it
  4. Those are the first (i think) realistic figures given in this thread Tom for what our jobs worth imo. I couldn't imagine coming back to the uk and working for some of the wages on here
  5. Nice pics James!
  6. You should be extremely happy with yourself for that, top class job!
  7. 31s good! is that mixed driving and towing? Have you had any problems with yours?
  8. Very nice Eddie, is the hilux the 3.0? Auto? How'd you rate it?
  9. Thats one hell of an adventure!
  10. Depends on the gearing surely? I know that when you do you're hgv test they train you that 1st is only really for loaded/hill starts. starting off in 2nd is perfectly acceptable if the gearing is low enough. The iveco daily i used to drive was low geared, only needed first when towing the loader or loaded or on a hill new truck looks smart, looks like typical arb rubbish fell out the cab on the ldv!
  11. Sits on its arse if loaded to the original sides (well the single cab does anyway) Would have thought the 4x4 crafter would make a better option
  12. that is rough, condolences to you and those also who've lost their nearest and dearest
  13. That first picture is awesome!
  14. I like it, quick scan through though, the over use of capital letters i find annoying. On the home page, between the trees, you have "Sectional Felling / Dangerous Limbs Removed / Crowns Lifted & Thinned...." It might be correct to use capitals in titles i just think it looks wrong! Then next to the picture you have a list of services, some of the 2nd words have capitalisation, some don't. Then I guess forres is a place? in which case it needs a capital F. I think your phone number should be split up, now its 01340810481, i think it should be 01340 810 481, make it easier to see the area code. Firewood page, Morray needs a capital M. I had to re-read this sentence a few times "2m3 which equates to 4 ton bags" 4x1 ton bags or a single 4 ton bag? "David Wakekley Tree surgeons, Bankhead Cottage, Carron,Aberlour,Banfshire,AB387QP, Te..." add some spaces after some of the commas I know its being picky, but small details matters
  15. Some great updates, work and kit Simon!
  16. Can that be "would like to feel" ??? If so I'm 18 again
  17. SFI isn't for everyone, chances are you'll be in a group of 30 mixed race immigrants who are there to tick boxes to stay in the country. you get taught whatevers being taught that day and only one tutor. The hardest part about learning swedish is EVERYONE in Stockholm speaks English, will hear you're english and want to talk english to you! I took 3x5week courses, 2h 2x a week in the evenings, cost about 2500SEK per course+books. 1 tutor to 5 students who actually want to learn. then just forced people to speak swedish, and most importantly wasn't afraid to cock up - e.g, the swedish for plant bulbs and fxxk is very similar, my girlfriend was looking for a gardening book titled onions and bulbs, i shouted when i found the book (in swedish across a packed stall in a huge trade fair infront of her very serious aunt and cousin) "look marie I've found the book on fxxking!" another was a song with the lyrics "vill du ligger med mig nu" which is "will you shag me now" but my swedish friend translated it as "will you come to bed with me". so trying to show off my swedish, infront of her parents i got up to go to bed and asked if shed like to come for a shag Accommodation in Stockholm is notoriously hard to get. getting a "1st hand contract" on a rental property or apartment in your position will be near impossible - theres a que system with the housing associations, i was normally around 300 in the list, the people at the top had been in the system 10-20 years (you sign your child up at an early age) Better chances of a second hand contract (sub letting) the only success i had was to put an advert up on Blocket.se (an ebay/gumtree type site) with a picture of myself stating i was English. You can search for places on blocket, but most said they had 30-50 people apply for a room! in my first week of having an advert of myself i had about 15 offers of rooms/appartments. expect to pay around 400quid a month for a room, 550+ for a studio apartment. Ive brought a house now which including bills is cheaper to pay for than just the rent on an apartment! have you got work sorted?
  18. I use a load of varying sized slings, some old carabiners, connected to a rigging plate then a pulley of any sort (twin pulley or HC normally). for spruce/fir/pine with whorls of branches its good to have 2 sets of a system. tag lines are good for cord or if you need to slow stuff down
  19. Before and after of today's re-pollarding of 3 Limes
  20. Yeah, I packed in employment a while back
  21. Certainly was and the tree was smaller than in the pictures that the price was based on
  22. Now finished for the day
  23. Today's job
  24. Why? A 5 litre can here costs about £16-18 or £3.20-£3.60 per liter A 25 liter can £65, or £2.60 per liter
