  1. do you know of the sites round here then?
  2. yeah, its plausable, so im happy ian, thats the one trade of mate i dont have-a mechanic! a randy little blonde female one would be nice . . . dean, if my welding could have welded the rusty old exhaust, it wouldnt have a cat now!
  3. id happily use local buisnesses if they offer good service . . but our local saw shop is utterly useless, they never have any of the consumables like clutch springs, air filters, anti-vibe rubbers, 12inch ms200t bars in stock, they then have to order them, mess up the order (gaurenteed), re order, 2 weeks later i may if im lucky get hold of it, on the internet on the otherhand, 3 days and the same cheaper parts are at my door . . if the local buisnesses got their act together, i would use them 0:001_smile:
  4. id recomend them too . . miles better than our local useless dealer who never is able to make a 36inch chain fit a 36 inch bar
  5. well im now happy in my head now, after wondering how on earth a radiator would just blow up, my guy has said he took it for a drive to get the catalytic converter nice and warm to help pass the emissions, left it running to keep cat warm when he dropped it off, now he (and i too) think that the radiator cap was faulty-if pressure builds up its the caps job to release the excess pressure, if its faulty then the pressure builds up and has to go some where, so when they reved it to move it to the mot bay then reved it for emissions, it must have been a touch too much . . atleast its now a plausable account to what happened did knock him down a fair bit though . . from £350 for cash down to £250 . . .250 for a years motoring=70p a day? not bad looking at it like that
  6. 2 irish, 1 english why?
  7. sold some racing wheels to a bloke in germany who was willing to pay more than uk bidders as exchange rate was so good for him. . . money first then post or no sale
  8. petrol, not diesel, if in neutral it wont go over 3500rpm as a safety feature i'll grin and bear it unless more is revealed tommorrow
  9. well first off i was ok about it, these things happen, and i trust my guy . . ill have another word tommorrow, make sure none of the facts change, what annoys me more is the dents on the bonnet hey ho
  10. yeah just replace number plate, stop the exhaust blowing, run some fuel conditioner stuff through it as failed on emissions on saturday (this was its re-test) may well have been genuine, but rather annoying never the less!
  11. took my car to my mechanic (used him before, and trust him, only started using him as hes a mercedes specalist) for its mot, now he doesnt do the mot's, but takes it down the road(few hundred meters) to the test station, he left it there for its test. now apparantly when the mot bloke drove it into the workshop, 'all of a sudden' the radiator exploded at the top. . now my mechanic(the mercedes specalist) rang me and told me the radiator had a leak, needs a new one, mot suspended. fair enough i thought. went round unanounced after work, where the story changed to the first one the radiator header tanks cracked, fan shroud broked, and 4 small dents in the bonnet from the mini explosion. the bills going to come to around £350 rather than the £50 for the mot (not genuine parts either) now im not happy now ive thought about it. . who should pay? whos at fault? am i lucky it happened at a garage rather than bombing along the motorway? or is it a case of they broke it, they fix it?

  23. sorry felix, whilst i was writing that reply, you posted! fair enough mate, good luck!
  24. i dont know what it was to be honest garth, was about 3/4inch thick that was one lucky job, the tree was behind/over a listed wall, when we pulled up this is what greeted us someone had come round the corner too fast and demolished the wall right under the tree! the lower part which was still standing we were allowed to clear out of our way aslong as we diddnt damage the bricks, result!
