  1. i dont know what it was to be honest garth, was about 3/4inch thick that was one lucky job, the tree was behind/over a listed wall, when we pulled up this is what greeted us someone had come round the corner too fast and demolished the wall right under the tree! the lower part which was still standing we were allowed to clear out of our way aslong as we diddnt damage the bricks, result!
  2. FRANK, youre such an amature. . . you need a bit of my luck
  3. yve, are those sip trousers available in all round protection? they look smart, the sip ultras were awfull after a few months. felix, cheap trousers dont last, false economy and all that. . . 3 days a week but for how long? a decent pair of trousers, e.g stretch airs at £200give or take, will last 2 or more full time years, a cheap pair at the £100 mark may last 6 months full time
  4. to be honest i think it would be rubbish for tree work if youre looking at a swb 4x4, a LR90 i think would be best, got to be the easiest 4x4 to modify for tree work and cheapest to modify too. . . looks like a work vehicle too rather than a school runabout
  5. my mate owns one, hes a landscaper and got a SWB like the one above, bounces around like a jack in the box when towing (5-6inch greenmech) tiny rear (simmilar or smaller than a LR90) i liked the engines power though, and comfort (when not towing!) cruise happily at 80 (unlike a LR!) struggled to get my 046 with 25inch bar in the back even diagonally, rakes ect are a real struggle, imo not enough room to carry climbing bag lowering bag, climbing saws, ground saw, felling saw, fuel, blower ect without stacking everything ontop of each other thought of a hilux surf commercial? discovery commercial?
  6. classic looks mate! why do you think you need a 4x4/small pickup

  20. and with practice let them summersault in the air on their decent to land flat
  21. slowly top cutting smaller limbs can let the branch fold under, away from potential hazards, leaving the but facing away from the tree on the ground. wood species dependant though
  22. pics of burner top of door needs welding(rusted through as you can see) exhaust exit needs a new 90degree bend, owner seems adamant hes going to cut out whats left and weld a new stainless steel bend in, prob wants something to do tbh chimneys are there, just need mounting brackets made to fit to wall or wherever theyre going to go both pumps are there, working, and most the copper pipe work as said before, it was all working before it was taken out to be replaced with oil heating as shifting logs at 80 was getting too much for him, reckon it saved him 2k a year, with water so hot itd scald you!
