  8. i hear what youre saying about footlocking marc, ive done a little bit, but i actually like the idea of a pantin for big trees im on HC with VT, and by no means a sloth, but theres always room for improvement. last year i entered my first small comp, done well, this year id like to enter a few more how will a small prussick help on my lanyard? surely that would be going backwards? i carry naff all gear, just a spare carabina and a small sling. dont want any junk, just genuinley usefull stuff!
  9. thanks steve. justin will be getting a call on monday. his price list is amazing compared to some websites im guessing you cant use a left and right one at the same time?
  10. just found a video of the pantin looks really good for big ascents [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph5URDtewWM]YouTube - Ascension of doubled line running thru pulley in treetop aided by foot ascender[/ame] what happens to it when you come to working? does it stay on or get clipped to youre belt?
  11. nope, is that the foot thing you used at jonsies comp?
  12. drt and in general please steve, havent tried srt . . yet!
  13. thanks, any other suggestions how to make climbing more efficent/easier/quicker? oh yeah i forgot about that part! over at TH a guy did say srt like that is best where theres lots of branches to climb on!
  14. allot of potential there
  15. ahh ok, so only needed in srt, i get it now so if i wanted to give srt a go, all id need is the fig8 and sling?
  16. thanks marc, so is there a way of saving youre hitch on long decents using drt? so whys he got it on there? i would have thought if he were to pull his hitch down to decend, the rope going through the fig 8 would help slow down his decent, and keep the load off his hitch, thus saving the hitch?
  17. whos charles bronson?
  18. been looking at masterblasters tree house site, and theres some cool videos and setups on there. before i thought all the jangelly gear was a bit fancy, but have started to understand it does actuall make life easier at the moment i climb on yale scortch 13mm rope, hitch climber, regular cambium saver and distel lanyard now i like the idea of having a figure 8 to decend on like this guys srt setup http://masterblasterhome.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29986&d=1262394839 is that do-able with standard drt? i can see the benifits of quicker decents but without burning out the hitch cord also i think its time to get a better cambium saver-i know of the art rope guide, is there anything better out there? thanks
  19. cheers ian ive actually got a huge hard back book called the woodworkers manual, its just having the time to have a look and giving it a go. i promise i'll make something simple with no nails or screws soon!
