  1. If the lift pump is suspect, take the fuel filter off and see if its brimmed - if not the lift pump is knacks or fuel pipes have holes in.
  2. Thanks for the leads Stu and Garth - will follow up on them. Cheers.....Al
  3. I think it means open grown or open ground i.e. bare rooted as opposed to rootballed.
  4. Have you got a number for them Stu? Cheers.....Al
  5. Either taken over or joined forces - one or the other.
  6. Hopefully Stobart Biomass will do the chipping and take the chips away. I need a machine that will pick the trees up and run across a field to where the chipper will be parked. Trees are approx 60 ft high and dbh of 2-3ft. I think an Avant might be a little on the small side this time:biggrin: Any suggestions for what to hire? Cheers...Al
  7. Neat idea. I've been using a little wedge on a bit of pull cord for years - great when blocking down to just push in the cut and stops the saw getting trapped.
  8. Oh damn!!! Busted:lol: This has been sorted now. Al.
  9. Hi Guys, Looking to see if anyone can pick up some wall stickers from Cath Kidston outlet store Unit 21, Bicester Village OX26 6WD They are the only Cath Kidston store in the UK that have the stickers we want (no longer sold, so old stock on the shelf) for my daughters bedroom for her birthday, but they won't put them in the post and won't take payment over the phone Happily pay fuel and postage costs on top of the cost of the stickers, and I can pay you by paypal, cheque or bank transfer. The store will only hold the stickers until the end of Thursday this week. Any kind soul able to help out on this? Cheers.....Al
  10. You won the lottery mate? Tractors, log splitters......

  12. Got a job coming up in Feb near Dartford to fell 35 Lombardy Poplars. All straight fells, so can get the trunks out in long lengths. Question is, what to do with it all??
  13. Happy New Year all you Arbtalkers! Heres hoping it is a good one for us all. On holiday in Levi, Lapland at the mo so had a two hour head start on a lot of you
  14. I'm all done for today. Just finished the last bit of paperwork - yippee!! Now off to see the Little Fockers (the film!), Christmas Day at home tomorrow, then off to Gatwick at 3.30am:thumbdown: Boxing day for flight to Lapland:thumbup: Have a good one all you ArbTalkers.
  15. Try some talcum powder around where you think it might be leaking from, and in the morning look for the track through the talc to see where the leak originates. If it doesn't work at least your landy will smell nice!:laugh1:
  16. Thanks for the replies peeps. Will check out some of the recommendations. Pity I didn't do this before splashing out on 2 pairs of sealskinzs:) Thought they were supposed to be the muts nuts from previous posts on the subject. Never mind they will be good on the ground next week with the weather we've got at the mo. Cheers...Al
  17. I recently bought some Sealskinz waterproof ultra grip gloves for working in cold/snowy/wet conditions. Whilst the gloves keep your hands nice and warm and dry:thumbup1:, I did not think they were particularly grippy on the rope. Has anyone else found this? A mate had a job lot of Sperian perfect poly (gloves NOT tights!!), and whilst they are not waterproof, they are extremely grippy, snug fitting and keep your hands warm. As a bonus you can get them from Ebay for about £1 a pair:thumbup1: Anyone tried them? Al.
  18. There was no boat... The job was about 50 miles from my home, so once there the job was getting done come hell or high water... literally:lol:
  19. On the ground?? I can't see any ground:001_tt2:
  20. Spot on:thumbup:
  21. I was asked to do an emergency job on a fallen tree in the river by a grounds maintenance company that had a contract for a pub chain. The job was near Southampton, so too far to go and look at first.... it's ok they said its not very big:confused1: Got down there and the tree had fallen from the bank on the otherside of the river. All I could do was put on my wellies, waterproof trousers which I taped up round the wellies with insulating tape to keep me dry. Did it hell... the trousers sprung a leak! Luckily it was during the summer and the water was surprisingly warm. I was in there for about 4 hours in all, and the pub looked after us handsomely with hot drinks and burgers afterwards:thumbup1: Here are some more photos from the job:
  22. Coming back up the M25 from Crawley today and there was an 'incident' between jcn 8 Reigate and jcn 9 Leatherhead. When we got there, there was a couple of chaps shovelling woodchip off the hard shoulder onto a transit pick-up. There was also some woodchip on the carriage way. According to the highways website the 'incident' was an overturned vehicle (or trailer)!! So... Anyone on here have a little mis-hap today?? (If so, hope they are ok!)
  23. This link has the lady's name as Kim Findlay, scroll down to find it: BBC - BBC Two Programmes - Gardeners' World, 2010/2011, The Science of Gardening This link has her contact details! Kim Findlay, Cell & Developmental Biology Google's great isn't it?? Good luck.
  24. I would say this is 99% certain an airlock. If everything was working before the heater matrix was repaired, then it should do now. I would drain the system (catch the coolant in something so you can re-use it if it is new), then when refilling ensure the heater temp control is set to hot, if the filling point is at the front nearside or offisde then jack up that side as high as possible and start refilling, giving the hoses a good squeeze as you go. Run the engine up to temp and check the level again, and fingers crossed all will be ok. I would defo do this before paying out for a water pump. Al.
  25. You didn't miss much..... .....just some baldy bloke and a bird :laugh1:
