  1. No recall yet in NZ. If someone has an email or letter they would be willing to cut and paste and email to me?
  2. Is this Europe only or world wide?
  3. We have the predecessor to the 193 (192) on the council truck with the 12" carver in it and it's a bloody awesome little saw. Happy medium between 2150 and the 200/201. I'll pull it out of the truck before our 200. Also interested to see if there's any truth to the "recall" rumour on the echo.
  4. If I remember I'll have a nosey at mine tomorrow
  5. Turns out my Echo turned up with the 12" 3/8 bar. My local Stihl dealer is sorting the 1/4" sprocket, 12" bar and chain so hopefully that'll be sorted soon. Spark arrester still to be removed but still an impressive little saw.
  6. Email the fella some birthday wishes gents.
  7. Same here. Keep it dry and makes fantastic kindling and easy burning to get the heat in the fire.
  8. I'd give it a while. We see them stripped out by gum leaf roller only to bounce back next year, it'll be epicormic growth so not structural but if it isn't anywhere where broken branches could cause issues, let it be a while and see what happens. Might be worth while checking around the base for the drill holes or signs of poisoning. Remove the deadwood as required.

  11. Trying telling the local OSH inspector its pompous bollocks when there's a serious injury, fatality or close call. I know from experience they see it very differently.
  12. Well, the little Echo is currently sitting on my dining room floor with not a drop of petrol yet through it. Came with a 12" bar although I can get a 10" Echo bar or the little Stihl carver bar. Hope to give it a burn this weekend and see how it performs.
  13. Meant it tongue in cheek
  14. You could have at least got his name correct.
  15. I wish we were able to see the outcome of the investigations regarding a lot of these accidents. It would be a good way to learn and understand what happened, how, why and how to prevent it happening again.
  16. You're forced to work at rock bottom prices because people such as Macca (no offence) are doing cash jobs at weekends. I have no doubt he is a good climber etc. but it doesn't take away from the fact that while most try and do things properly, some are happy to do the job on the cheap, no insurance, rescue climber etc.
  17. Can't say for the UK but you can cut it off at ground level in NZ and it'll resprout
  18. Agreed, plus, discuss the do's and don't' with the customer prior to starting work as part of your hazard ID/tailgate e.g. Don't come into the work area, do make us a cuppa at smoko.
  19. Ants will farm and protect aphids in order to get the honeydew. The ants will generally attack anything that comes anywhere near their food source but some insects can mimic the pheromones of the ants and basically sneak in and predate undetected.
  20. True scouser
  21. Nice that Mick. Touch of quality and class.
  22. Cheers Joe. I think they come standard here with the 1/4" but I will double check. I know the bar and chain definitely looked wrong on such a small body although it didn't feel unduly unbalanced.
  23. Sorry to ask dumb questions gents, and yes, I know the answers will be somewhere amongst the replies but to save all the searching..........I'm just about to go buy this new fandangled Echo but the bar it comes with is a hulking great thing. I can get a little 10" echo bar but can someone confirm for me that the Stihl 12" carver bar that comes on the 150 will also fit the little echo without having to change sprockets? Bear in mind this is NZ and we're limited on bars at this stage. I'm guessing that it does from what I've read and that, therefore, the Stihl chain will also fit but with an extra link. Just need some clarification please and thanks.
