  1. Pretty much sums it up. If the Council had no procedures in place that either prevented him from using the saw in an inappropriate way then thats Council's problem. If Council had all the procedures, training etc in place and up to date and the employee had read AND understood those procedures then the responsibility falls on him.
  2. Not sure if that was my spelling or auto correct. I blame the latter Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Kask? Mine did the same plus it stank. Ditched it and went back to Petzl. Didn't even bother trying to return it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. No electronics or air on this one. It was a landscapers originally so it's on heavy duty springs. I'll get some photos up if I get it. Apparently it goes like a scolded cat. Showed up a few of the local boy racers recently so I've been told. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. I'll get some photos up as soon as I can. Getting my local mechanic to have a look over but safe to say that electrics are nowhere in sight. The interior is old Skool Land Rover so no gadgets or gizmos of any kind. Even comes with obligatory gaps around the doors. Only the chassis, lump and box are from the RR.
  6. I have the chance to get a 4.6HSE with a land rover body on it, tipper and winch. Heavy duty coil springs also. No cash to change hands, just an exchange for services rendered. I've read the horror stories of heater coils going and sleeve liners etc but does anyone have first hand experience with one? This will only be for hauling my stump grinder and a bit of firewood around so not my main vehicle but more of a toy.
  7. Well, for the umpteenth time I contacted All Power Industries (the NZ Echo importer) and asked if they were going to get me the info they promised. Turns out they hadn't even followed up on my request so I went for the refund. A crying shame really but the customer service here is absolutely diabolical. I make that about 6 phone calls, two texts messages, a couple of Facebook messages (their actually landline is hard to find) along with several more the dealer made on my behalf. It's really put me off buying another Echo especially seeing as my Stihl dealer is on the ball every time.
  8. My little 2510 (that I'm still waiting for a return phone call about) that I'm not using, didn't set fire to some dead leaves and didn't melt the plastic around the exhaust today. I can now see what the issue is.
  9. Silver Dollar. If it is, the florists will love it.
  10. Thanks for the link, it'll come in handy this week as I have to write out a JSA for MEWP work.
  11. Excuse me? Just for your info; I've been chasing up both the dealer and the importer from the day I first read about the recall. I get pushed from one to the other with neither of them really knowing the full story. The importer told me not to ring him again!!! I don't expect a personal invitation but what I do expect is some form of correspondence having already raised the issue, not being told not to contact the importer with the dealer telling me it's in the importer's hands. I finally had a call 3 days ago to give me my options. I asked what I was supposed to do in the interim seeing as they were leaving me without a saw. No answer. Still waiting for them to come back to me to let me know when the new saw is out rather than a guesstimate.
  12. Dead mans handle taped up on my Rayco too. Few months ago, not long after I purchased it, it kept cutting out and then wouldn't start. Took me and a few others several days to figure out that the tape on the handle had worn through and the safety cut out was operating again.
  13. Haven't even got my bloody recall letter yet. Becoming more and more disillusioned with the Echo guys here. Almost tempted to get the refund and buy the 150.
  14. Tokaanu thermal and mineral pools are five minutes up the road from me (similar to Hells Gate) It does help but the injury needs more chemical methods in addition.
  15. Just had my eighth or ninth cortisone injection in my left shoulder. Apparently a subluxation or dislocation of the AC joint so pain management is the only option, other than finding another job that is.
  16. I tried a few of peckerwood's stretches for my hamstrings and sciatica. Just googled them but they do help heaps.
  17. Spent some time visiting the US and I've found the people to polite, accommodating and incredibly friendly. Very patriotic but in a way that they want to show visitors everything the country has to offer. I love the place.
  18. Apologies, I haven't read all of the thread again but I just wondered if anyone had mentioned the long term toll cut and chuck takes on the body? One of my shoulders is absolutely munted from hedge trimming and cut and chuck work, specifically MEWP work I think.
  19. Pilates, codeine, cortisone, more codeine but with paracetamol and a couple of glasses of wine. Best of all though is something I don't do enough of and that's stretching. Apart from my wrists and shoulders I've popped both my hamstrings and they welded to my sciatic nerves when they repaired. Sometimes they give me grief and making the time to stretch works better than any pain relief (along with a tennis ball under the buttocks). Stretching also helps with RSI.
  20. Always liked Evans when he was on TFIFriday but not so keen on the TopGear effort. Not entirely all his fault I'd have to say as you can lay a lot of the blame at the feet of the beeb. With regard to the allegations; there's been quite a few of those about recently with other celebrities without any foundation or so it seems. I'll wait and see if he's actually charged and convicted of anything
  21. Apparently not. Full refund or a 260 TES with $100 cash back or wait for the new replacement. No loan saw.
  22. I think your British dealers might need to teach their NZ compatriots a thing or two. Looks like I'm gonna be without a saw until December.
  23. Nice, and unique I would imagine.
  24. well, seems we in NZ don't get quite the same deal. We get the following; 1. Hand back the 2510 and get the 2511 as a replacement when it is released in December. 2. Take the 260 TES and $100 refund. 3. Hand back the 2510 and get a full refund. I'm taking option 1.
