Never seen this before. 440 stopped oiling, noticed oil behind clutch, took it off, noticed springy things on clutch had snapped off and cut through the metal pipe from the oil pump.

Well my 2012 441 has been a pain in the rear. After 6months stalled mid cut and would not restart. returned to dealer, who returned it to stihl. New coil.(i think) Shortly after that it kept stalling mid cut. returned to dealer, who returned it to stihl. They said there was nothing wrong with it?! stihl said that a stihl bar and chain would improve performance? I was fuming! Returned again to dealer as the saw would stall every cut logging up 16'' stuff, they replaced the carb and coil and it was much better, no apology! Returned saw again a few months ago as it keeps cutting out every time you put the saw down. they charged me £80 and cleaned the carb. Saw returned again a month ago with the same problem, again, charged £80, cleaned the carb. The saw still stalls now most times I put it down! I bought 4 new bit of gear in 2012 all have been terrible! all from the same dealer. stihl 441 husky 550 stihl km100 stihl 201

I was wondering what the club cab would look like with a tipper on. i thought that the little curve bit behind the seat might look a little odd but it looks ok. What is the chip capacity in the box? m3 mines getting a bit tired

i wish i got one of these years ago! i have used it on 4 trees now, sailed over my target limb every time first time, so actually you don't get to play with it much!. it did cross my mind to get some more of the jameson poles and a saw head, but i thought there was a fair amount of play with 2 poles, dread to think what it would be like with 5 or 6

I would ensure i gave them every other possible option first if they are still not happy then fell. At least you will then know you tried your best to retain the tree. We had to do a large copper beech the other day in dartmouth. Seeing all the trees come down in the storms the clients had it in their heads that it had to come down, if it did blow there was only one way for it to go and that was straight over their house and it would have cut it in half. I usually lift a tree to start and just get them to have a look before we go too far, sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometime we get called back a few years later to fell!

Well Iam sticking to the 241. i had a 2012 550 it was horrible, great when running but getting it running was the problem. i wouldn't dream of taking it up a tree. My 240 will start 1st pull every time from warm start. I have heard that the 550 are a lot better now.

digger on site for a week. so nice to have one of these on the job. Worth the half day it took to track it down small roads, across fields and through hedges! A 13t with grab Probably 100t of Pinus radiata all timber stacked and brash burnt. nice. Does radiata have any uses at all? Beautiful site at slapton over looking startbay, Devon

1300kg! sure doesn't look that heavy. id be interested in seeing any vids of you testing it. I would feel happier\safer if it had some kind of anchor fixed underneath the winch. Easy for a man with your welding skills! There was a guy on here that had a hydraulic winch fitted to his boxer skid steer that looked like a handy bit of kit too.

looks good but how does the winch not just drag the machine? could you fix on some kind of ground anchor like the tractor winches?

Im in Blackawton. I dont have a cherry picker, we hire them in as and when required. More than happy to come have a look, but i won't be able to do the job for at least 6 weeks.

I looked in to this a while ago and decided on a Goodwinch Bak Rak Winch Mount fitted with TDS-9.5i £600. that comes with dyneema rope to. it simply slips on to your ball hitch, i wired in an anderson socket. take it on and off as you like. The deal cruncher for me was the fact that my insurance wanted more money to insure my L200 with a winch on the front as it is classed as a modification.

yep that is the muck grab on the avant. its great for shifting brash but not for logs imo I've bent most of the top tines at least a couple of times, some awkward shaped bits will just bend tines for a past time. i recon the log grab with pallet forks is as good at shifting brash as the dung grab anyway as long as its not too small. the pallet forks are nearly twice along as the dung fork tines, i have both. can't really see, but in the pic we were stacking leylandi brash on the forks and crushing down, opening up and stacking more on. i have turf tyres on my 420, no probs yet, i also have the standard tractor style tyres too but they will mark a lawn up if tooing and froing. your local dealer should really be able to advise you on all this stuff.

log grab for 420 simply fits onto pallet forks. its far too expensive for what it is but essential for shifting logs.

thats the one i went for too. dont ring him up. i ended up on the phone for ages listening to him banging on!

also, forward and reverse pedals are quite close together, i find that often i push both together and go nowhere! the articulated steering takes a lot of getting used to, have to watch your corners a lot especially if your up tight to an object. if i was buying new again and had more money, i would look at the newer version, i think its the r35.

ok, negatives. it will lift 600kg, but its very sketchy if you turn or are on uneven ground with that weight on. it articulates but does not oscillate (i think thats the right word. doesn't twist) so can end up with only 2 wheels on the ground and gripping often. also when balance does change, the wheel off ground can come down with a fair bump, not a problem unless you have a load on! have to throttle up to move quickly, but have to remember to throttle back to move load or movement is very rapid and jerky. a lot of plastic covers does make you have to think how to secure it to trailer. it does have proper tie down points at very front and very back but if trailer is only just long enough you can't use them appropriately. Im just about to try the ratchet strap car wheel fixing method, i.e. one on each wheel. wheel motors are slightly under powered for my liking. (slows down a bit on steep ground.) attachments are expensive compared to pto equipment. Looks like a toy! All this aside it is a great tool, works well for my business, saves my back!

Right behind you bro! i also must put the new number plate on my chipper. the plate on it at the mo is from 2 trucks ago!! Also light socket need replacing, as only one side works unless you apply slight downward pressure, awkward at 60mph!

There are loads of posts on here about them, just do a search for avant or mini loader or skid steer. I have put on loads of pics of my 420, there is also loads of stuff on youtube. Don't expect it to grip like your tractor or like a skid steer. But if you don't want to make a mess they are great.
