my view on two peolpe climbing is that in the event of a rescue the second climber is all kitted up and ready, well maybe in another tree but still gona be quicker off the mark. i guess the main problem is when you crash a heap of stuff onto your rope below!

how many people have a spare set of spikes in the event of a resuce??? we dont but i often think we should. i would be very relunctant to climb without a second climber and kit onsite, but i cant see how one could have a dedicated man just on standby not moving away from the tree, surley just not practicle. carl

at the end of the day its down to what works and suits you..wether your an employer or employee, if you dont like it change it. i think theres far too many major assumptions made about peoples character from these posts and then slides into a slagging match.... cmon its all about sweat and graft isnt it??? not emotions. lol

Falling on an ascender and rope failure

hi arbor jeasus, i have had a drop on single line because of a small branch snapping, no damage to the rope but deffinatly didnt feel good for the gear or me!!, so now i always spend a minite having a good look at the route of the rope and most importantly get two of you on the rope to give it a good test. also love not having to isolate the branch, a real bonus with my throwline skills. -

do you let go of the lads who dont jog back from the chipper?? surley theres a lot more to a good worker than the ability to peg it back across the garden a 1oo mph.

technic lego!!! awsome stuff me and my mates used to spend hours with it arguing over who got the best wheels and all the pnuematic rams etc, enjoy ....dont forget to let the kids have a go too.!

i have a new br350 and seems fine, not used a br600 so thankfully dont know what iam missing! the back pack ones are a pain in a small van though, would like a hand held for blowing after mowing.

setting the blower up on idle really helps cool you down on breaks if theres no breeze! after this week i have a new respect for the tree workers in place like oz etc. carl

i think it depends on the legnth of time you need to use it for, we have a bg86 at work and is about 8yrs old and has had nothing done to it and is fine for a quick clean up but for longer stints a back pack is a lot easier to use, ive just got a br350 for garden stuff and well pleased with it, only down side is having to take it on and off to clear stuff with a rake and the fact its a bit bulky in the van compared to the hand held carl.

was thinking of getting either of these myself, but then upped the budget a little and got a stih br350 ( sml back pack) pleased with is so far and a way easier to use for longer periods plus lot more blow than the bg86. carl.

i got quoted 430 euro including vat for the stihl 86 locally. obviuosly the exchange rate varys from day to day, i wouldent of minded paying a bit more for convinience but not made of money either!

the saving was about 130 euro and that included delivery( when it was possible) just didnt fancy tanaka although i have a hedge trimma by them which is fine and i got that local as was the same price( easy way round the whole problem, if everyone charged roughly the same!) carl.

looks like the stihl then, gona try and pick one up in the uk when iam over can you check them in as baggage in there unused in a box?? the saving compared to local will pay for the flights and car hire easly!! crazy eh. carl

any one experience on which is better, would kinda prefer the stihl but finding it hard to source one locally at a decent price( great policy stihl , thanks!) but can get the husqy easly, so which should i get?? thanks carl.

come on over .... over an acre of the stuff, bracken too, spent days trying to dig that out by hand. seems to be endless wind and showers at mo so not very good for spraying:thumbdown:

is glyphosate effective on bindweed, i am imagining it is but want to check before spraying a large area thanks carl

had good long day at the show friday and weather held so that was handy, it was a lot more foresty than arb stuff( probably could of guessed that from the name!) really enjoyed watching the climbing loads of entrants of all levels and lots of help and encouragement from the more experienced guys, might even sign up meself next time. gregs stall from cork with the arb gear seemed very popular, good prices too:thumbup1: will put up some photos of the climbing when i get a minute. so thanks to the organisers of the show, had a good day. carl

charity shop suit cases bout five euro each!! even got one with wheels for when iam lazy or want to look like an flight attendant. great value and work fine.
