  3. does the employer not have to be found neglegant in order for an employee or subcontractor to claim in the event of an accident?? alway thought this was so.

thanks for the comments guys. mk2 would have the legs coming straight down then splaying out lower down away from the saw and maybe some wooden buffers on posts next to where the saw goes. plus make it out of bought metal rather than odds n sods, but wanted to see if the princeple idea worked first. thanks carl

i made this a while ago to help ringing up cord wood as i was getting fed up with being bent over chasing logs about!! the idea was to hold a decent amount and not to have to move the log about. the bundle left is the right size for a burner. i will probably make a mk2 at some point with some improvements and a better stand, still happy enough with it and the ratchet holds it pretty steady. cheers carl
  10. think dadio has been given arbtalks first club card by steve bullman, more relpys the more points towards that nice arbtalk hoodie:001_tt2:
  11. thanks for the feedback guys, i ended up getting the one in the link as it was local, might need it for call out work over the holidays. its got a car charger which should be usefull. seems pretty bright with a wide beam too. my girlfriend gave me a tenner for it if i promised to get it a shut up about it!! so if you see any strange lights in the sky its probably me just dicking about with my new toy!!ah sad git. cheers n have good xmas all carl

  13. does anyone have one of these torches?? nightsearcher trio 230. not sure if the link will work. thinking of buying one. thanks carl
  14. thanks for answering my questions dadio, i may well give the cut a go a some stage although probably not on a log that size to start with!! keep up the vids, and the after debate is as always amusing. would you consider a warning at the start of your vid? such as "for trained competent saw users only" just a thought . cheers carl
  15. dadio what sort of force was on the lowering pulley ?? was that not increased by letting the butt drop sudenley? or was most of the impact just on the ground? could you have done a gob on the topside and let it fall slower? thanks for sharing carl.
  16. practicly have already if thats your groundie in your avatar:lol:
  17. i dont get it personally our calenders end every dec 31st!!! end of the world?? no just time to buy a new calender of airbrushed beauties. sod all one can do about it if the world does end. carl.
  18. cool photos, great for that extra big tub of ben and jerrys!! how do you get a tree of that size to stay up after planting?? thanks carl
  19. yes it is not sure whats good about it, not mad about it meself!
  20. not that near cobh really, west of there around clonalkilty area, nice but always wet!
  21. pretty rare around here, most people seem to be delighted that your killing trees!
  22. good thread adam, i think the main thing with any of these different techniques is to just give them a go ( safely of course!) if it works for you and improves your climbing by making it easier or faster then thats great if not just use your old method. carl
  23. id say it took alot of time , effort and money on kevins part to get the rope wrench where it is now and i hope he gets a fair share of the retail price and has bought a carribean holiday home with the proceeds!! very pleased with my rope wrench btw. my friend made his own copy from mine seems ok. carl.
  24. how much are these loler inspector courses?? preasumeably it would benefit any climber when checking their own gear, to have a greater understanding of its saftey. how long are the courses.
  25. intresting thread, just a few questions to add. who runs loler inspector courses? if there were no legal obligations to loler ones own climbing kit would people still get it done or would they rely on their own visual inspection and knowledge of what they have done to the kit. just curios to hear peoples thoughts on this, i climb on my own gear and its fairly new but i dont want to be complacent with it. hope this made some sense! thanks carl
