ok thats ordered i went for the tanaka tph270s in the end mainly because of the weight and price so hopfully it will be ok, wont be using it 24/7 anyhow. and for a change the local dealer came in with a good price too! thanks for the advice aprriciate it. carl.

thanks guys, iam assuming the tanaka and hitachi are the same thing?? looking like its between that and the echo, kinda like the sound of lighter as me little arms do get tired when hedging!!! easy lift harness sounds good have to pay for the machine first tho! thanks carl

hi think i have narrowed it down to three models, just after opinions and experiances with them, i know some of this has been covered in previous threads, -hitachi -ch55epc -sthil hL95 -echo 265ES thanks carl. p.s i will be my only trimmer so will have to do faces aswell.

thanks for the help and suggestions, the public lia for me would be about protecting me in case of injury to third person as hopfully wont be damaging any property. i guess its just a case of working out if i can afford it , kinda struggling with the princaple of paying for somthing i hope not to use.... and then doing the same next year!! thanks again

hi. iam doing a few garden maintance jobs on my own and am thinking about getting public liability cover for my piece of mind, but when i explain to customers that at present i have no form of insurance all they seem concerned with is if i have an accident. so is this personal accident cover?? do most people have this?? i want to say iam fully insured but dont feel public liability is enough? hope this makes sense thanks carl.

few questions if ya dont mind! how are people securing the line at the base of the tree?? i was thinking of getting a chunky split tail for this, plus i like the ability to lower in rescue but also like the technique of isolating the anchor fork with an alpine butterfly. is there a way of doing both? otherwise ill have to way up the odds of cutting the rope down the back of the tree or cutting myself preferably neither. thanks hope this makes some sense. cheers carl.

cool only used mine a few times but cant see the need to switch to DRT on that many ocassions. just hoping ART will make a srt lock jack style thing!

thanks for all the advice guys , some good points to think about although unfortunally my work van(and only transport, not that succsessfull...yet!) died on the side of the road today, i think it could be fuel pump issue so ride on purchuse will have to wait. thanks again carl.

hi iam looking to buy a used ride on mower for my own use plus hopfully a few cutting jobs. just after some advice on what to check when veiwing a machine?? i realise new is better but i cant afford/justify it. also any makes to aviod. thanks carl.

just wondering what ropes people are using with this system? iam using tachyon which is ok but was wondering wether one could use a more static rope or wether that was only for acsses not the whole climb. thanks carl

the lack of friction with the system is such a bonus i ended up with my rope through loads of forks as different anchors around the tree and then off into the second tree, then down and just pulled it all through with no cambium saver to get stuck. just need to get better with the throw line now. would deffinatly recomend at least trying one. thanks kevin! carl

sorry to hear about your gear and their workshop. so whats the best / recomended thing to do with battery charging?? ive never been that happy with it in the house or in the shed. carl

we use sthil fs480,s (think? or simmilar model) and they are great never hand any probs and they seem to love getting stuck into clearing tough stuff -
thanks for the photos ian. does your hand assecnder attatch to your RW? or just to the foot loop. had a quick go at the frog walk with basicly the same set up seem good although i definitly need practice to get the rythem right. the RW won out today for a small job of reducing a long pine limb, just set up a single line over a high main branch and then redirected to the fork above the limb to work on then pantined up straight out on the end of the limb. do you find the RW works better on a short tether and no karribiner at the top of the LJ. cheers carl

had a go with the rw and lock jack in small tree at work today seemed good i actually found the lockjack smoother on the desecnt than with drt. looking forward to trying that frogwalking thing looks easy and fast. not sure about the use off non rated karribiners on the rope wrench, surely its just as essential as the hitch or LJ in srt mode therefore needs to be securley fixed?? totaly new to the RW thing so please correct me if iam wrong. cheers carl

i use a painters bucket with the handle that unclips so you can clip the throwbag oneside and the end of the line the other, does work but not as handy as the cube, not as dear either.

had a small go with my rope wrench today, a few issues i would like advice on, whilst ascending then putting my weight on the VT caught before the wrench causing the VT to become quite tight also the wrench was right on top of the VT making it hard to grab. iam using sirus 8mm cord on tachyon rope. to be honest i found it a bit odd whilst trying to move around the tree, i had to climb the tree more which seemed to promote more slack in the line. any hints tips and also photos of set ups would be appreciated. will hopfully try again with it this week. thanks carl
