  1. price the job then tell the farmer who owns the field he can have the firewood if he pulls the tree over and clears it all up!!! ( well it would work round here... firewood the new gold!)
  2. my thoughts are with you, carl
  3. big tractor, or tracked digger, or remove back weight. get a vid of the fell too. carl
  4. my turn now! well the zig zag was great for the short ten hours i climbed on it before the top link cracked the same as the others did. i barely used it and am a fairly careful climber and not heavy on gear, so as far as i now see it there not fit for perpouse. back to the lockjack for now i think. carl
  5. dont think the term " work horse" describes that mog , more like "prime thorough bred stud" ! nice. carl
  6. i tried the graphite and found it to be crap, i now use a bit of wd40 and a good wipe down after is this ok as some people have said dont use wd40 ?? thoughts.
  7. how would you do that??
  8. just looked at the photos of the back of the mog and id say the doors at the back are way to low, on the one at work the are about 3/4 high and we can fill to the brim, that said greenmech raised the height of the chipper chute at the turntable by about ten inch. i have seen other mogs with a notch cut out of the doors i would say that is the best solution. carl
  9. ours is exactly the same , it does block on wet stuff ocasionally , is that the reason for shortening them??
  10. out of intrest why are you guys suggesting shortening the greenmech chute?
  11. thanks ill keep an eye on it, although looks fairly dead now. carl
  12. where the two tubes meet just beside you, i leave the rubber clip off so i can crack open the pipes to see if it is blocked, obviously wont stop it blocking but easier to clean if you catch it early, if the mowers the same as mine they just dont like picking up wet grass! if you do get a quick solution do tell cos unblocking it is a pain. carl
  13. i have this ash sapling at home that has started to wilt over the last few days so went to take some pictures to see if it could be the chalara disease and i then noticed these beetles on the trunk. so any thoughts as to what they are and what i should do ?? iam thinking burnt it all quick! thanks carl
  14. any flat grass blade will do,a big brushcutter would be best but i have a smallish husqy strimmer (33 cc i think) and i have done loads of long grass like yours with a blade, just keep it sharp and pick away at it
  15. loving that ride on brush cutter!!! from the photos you showed us i think difflocks suggestion of the blade on a strimmer is best and you can cut it into rows then pike it up easly then finnish off with your mower. i cant see any cheap push or ride on coping with grass of that length. ( tell your customers to get it cut more frequently too) carl
  16. mine has the same marks too, no depth to them though.
  17. think of the colour! we have nice green ones that look smart but are crap for safety, hi vis all the way for me! carl
  18. id put a couple of days for two people, as theres a lot of crown to stack and that trunk that looks like it will blunt a saw in no time and would need to be cut bloody small to be managable for a homeowner, plus id say two on the ground would be more efficient. shame to loose it tho. carl
  19. when on the ground try and be constantly busy , even if theres not much happening, always try and tidy, pack up gear, get out gear ready, talk to client etc, every little helps to get done and home
  20. hope thats built strong, gona be a few people hanging on it for dear life soon!
  21. looks like a nice job( maybe without the heat!) do you stump grind everything?? funny as round our way i have never seen a stump grinder as everyone either leaves it or uses a digger. farmers and their toys are always welcome on a job
  22. you sound like a decent chap, to be honest if i drove past the above scenarios i probably would of laughed and carried on. fair play. carl
  23. i use a dremmel carfully on the gate barrell
  24. yes i think it the rivet on that one is fractionally closer to the edge,
  25. whats this about treeflex shackles??? oh and silky has gone a bit quiet on this one!
