    only asking as we have a free hanging nonrotor grab that we fit to a hire digger, its just a bit of a pain as there is way of nudging any thing around, still its a lot better than no grab and digger.

    does a fixed grab on a small machine not put a lot of strain on it if one picks up unbalanced timber?
  3. looks cool , but the trailer capacity looks small, could you not of mounted it on larger trailer, maybe too heavy then. what do you use it for?
  4. ive always done 5ltr from the pump, then 100ml oil filled into the little chamber on the oil can and i have never had any definite fuel related problems in any saw or hedge trimmer etc. i have unfortunately never run a 500i though
  5. i thought cryptomeria has soft leaves, foilage? and a more cloud like apperence. not that know what it is though!

    slight derail but what do people do for mini digger certification in arb work ( ie mini digger and grab)?? thanks carl
  8. i guess more wraps on the bollard probably would of had a better outcome, but a bit that size slamming into the stem wouldnt of been great either.

  12. helmet comms are great for assisted fells , and everything else really.
  13. was that truck pulling it? i couldnt see a pull rope or was in very low down!! very lucky no one was hurt.
  14. i would say its when its a rootballed tree, but those look more like bare root in which case i would put the stake in verticle but do it before the tree goes in , id also cut the stakes just above the tie point.
  15. they are made to order , they are not available in climbing shops. see mark bolams post on the next page,thats the guy who makes them. i think they are a good bit of kit.
  16. i think we bodged one together years back with an exhuast clamp, assuming some of the collar is still intact.

  18. i normally use petzl karritools on either side of my harness for the chainsaw but iam getting bored of keepbreaking them. what metal ones do people like that are similar to the karritool design. thanks carl
  19. dont know what machine you have( didnt watch the video) but on some machines you can manualy bypass all the antistress electrics, this may help pin point the issue. i think some forward/.reverse hydrulic valves have solenoids with a red light on, you could check this when its working , then when it isnt. sorry a bit vague but iam not much of a chipper mech, just vague memories from breakdowns!!

  24. there is a disease in our area that is killing off lawson cypress, not sure what it is though. doesnt seem to be efffecting leylandi though.
